Wow, like @Satoshi Matrix say, wonder what chips use to make this. The first track is astonishing , the second, the drums, remember me Decap Attack ^^. Very nice upload Ryan, love FM sound!
When I first heard it, I was shocked to realise Sakuraba still knows how to write catchy, interesting music. It's kind of tragic because he more or less... doesn't, now.

What FM chips are in use here? Is this like a "dream" collection of a whole pile of incompatible FM chips across several platfroms? Some of this sounds like X6800 stuff, while some of it sounds Famicom, Genesis, SNES, and so on. I want to know more about what is going on with these tracks.

The cover is a bunch of DX-7's, if that helps. As for the actual hardware they were using, I'd guess they all just chose to use chips or synthesizers that they enjoyed. If we found someone who owns the physical album and reads Japanese, they could probably figure it out, since I can't imagine the composers not documenting what they used.

Zoe Papillon Ha, wow. I love that the Japanese are nerdy and creative enough to still include special sound chips in tech as modern as cellphones, especially chips that can do FM! This page talks about the capabilities a bit: www.welectronics.com/gsm/samsungx400.html

Zoe Papillon Wow only 4 operators? Pretty weird for 2014. Maybe they're keeping it basic so casual users won't be intimidated. Sounds pretty good on this album, though!

Zoe Papillon lol, oh right I forgot this album wasn't that new. Still, 4 operator FM is very simple, even for the mid-2000s. And it sounds good, for being so simple.

Nice. Is there any way you could add index markers or annotations so that the album is more accessible? It's probably a chore to segment everything into a playlist, but it would be nice to have a frame of reference with timecode.
