Been familiar with Sabayan, and seen it within PTK and with Kayan Cajudo of Sanduguan Kali. Thanks for explaining it Tuhon Jesse.

Our pleasure! It would be an interesting contrast in the future to bring these two together so they can break down how they approach the sabayan drill.

Glad it was helpful! Like Tuhon Jesse mentioned, the instructor not only has to have the skill, but the ability to teach and pass on that knowledge for those to create their own wisdom.

FMApulse doing a fantastic job with the camera work and dope editing skills! Tuhon Jesse always personalizes his teaching directly to the student yet allows outside observers to comprehend the lesson.

This is the 1st video I've watched w/ Tuhon Jesse & his breakdown of this flow drill is amazing. Great progression & explanation of the attributes used for developing the flow necessary to pull these techniques off. Nice to see a "Tuhon" taking the time to explain all those important nuisances & the "how's" & 'why's" & not just blowing through the drill to show off..., You rocked it Jesse!

Always showing how the instructor teaches their material to the students. If people likes their approach, they can contact the instructors directly.

So many two man forms in FMA, hardly ever see sparring or sparring drills. Training should be seen in sparring. If you watch Dog Brother stick fights, street stick fights, etc you don't see what is trainined in FMA traditional classes.

There's a difference in the art and the fight. Whether you agree with us or not, and we've heard this before as well, there are different training for different purposes. The word “arts” in martial arts points to skill, expression of beauty or creativity. The combination “martial arts” may be interpreted to mean ending conflict skillfully and not always physically. Are you training for sport, art or combative? Some people train for different purposes.

@@FMAPulse Yes, the cliche of art vs combat is prevalent in all FMA systems. But the problem is instructors doing the "art" and calling is combat or defense. Much of the training of traditional martial arts violate what has found to be true by modern sports science research (motor learning). Not to mention the TMA's are predominantly driven by block training not random training. Look at this drill, participants know where the next strike is coming from and start to block that angle before the strike even comes in. The active reading element is missing. This is a drill I would consider an encyclepedia of techniques that need to be extracted and put in an uncooperative reactionarary drill or sparring.

the stick is suppose to be a machete you guys are touching the stick with your hands in real life you will be getting cut, what techniques are these?
@FMAPulse

Depends on the system you're referring to. Some systems treat the stick as blunt object, not a blade.
