Frankly, a lot of professional musicians loathe playing movie soundtracks and popular music whenever their orchestra does a "summer pops series" or whatever. Although it sounds good to us, it's usually not musically challenging or interesting compared to what they usually play. Hans Zimmer and John Williams are great examples- though they write very different styles, they're both great composers whose music is often so well-suited to the films they accompany. But for musicians, they're boring and basic as hell to play. That being said, you can see this ensemble is really putting their heart and soul into it. It means they are very professional and have a good director, but you can tell they're passionate and also having fun. John Powell's scores are a little more creative than most and I think you see that this orchestra has more respect for and interest in this music than they probably would for most movie music.

Bro that violinist deserves an award. Music isn’t about just sounds it’s about the emotion, power, and just relatable aspects. The music brings out the emotion of the movies. You have to feel the music. Feel it and understand it. Feel the goosebumps that go through your body when a beat drops. Now that’s the pure joy and emotion of music.
@charliecharmander3213 Жыл бұрын
I totally agree! Like I really wanted to feel this music and I realized while listening to it with noise canceling headphones that my pleasure doesn’t just come from the sound, I love seeing all the aspects of this piece, especially when musicians like that soloist are so invested. It’s just so much more magical. I honestly would encourage anyone to see music performed live (specifically orchestras and symphonies) before writing off instrumental music because it’s just so lively no matter what and always carries a certain confidence with it!

It's not nostalgia, because I felt the same way first hearing the songs. It's because the music is very powerful and the story is so simple and well told. HTTYD is not one of the greatest animated films of all time, it's one of the greatest FILMS of all time, period. An absolute masterpiece. To be able to make a grown (jaded) man's hair on the back of his neck stand up is an impressive feat. The characterisation of Toothless and Hiccup, they're genuinely portrayed friendship, the building of trust between them.... It's all just phenomenal. And the music does what a great movie soundtrack is supposed to do, emphase all the stuff that is going on without overshadowing the performances onscreen.
