Some of these have been mentioned already but I want to put my two cents in because my lil brother and I are 4 years apart and have tried LOTS of two player games while I’ve been out of state for college, it’s how we stay connected while I’m away :) Our all time favorites are: It Takes Two, A Way Out (both made by the same company, both are fantastic storylines, they’re like interactive movies), Unravel Two (less plot/no dialogue but very cute co-op game), and most recently The Quarry (interactive thriller movie with a crazy good plot, not technically co-op but you play multiple characters so you can assign different players to different characters and take turns, you also have to make decisions that affect the rest of the game, so there’s a lot of entertaining yelling at each other for what to do) Ooh one more, if you guys like overcooked you’ll love Moving Out , you work for a moving company and you have to work together to move everything into the truck as fast as you can.

Life and Strange and Detroit Become Humans are some good ones if you haven't played them yet. (Life and Strange 2 is a personal favorite)

A few two player games I would recommend are it takes two, a way out, and cup head. I would recommend watching trailers/gameplays. Also if you do play these games you should make them into a series since they do take some time to complete but are fun!

I recommend playing moon hunters!! It's a semi story based dungeon crawler game with good combat, and based on the choices you make it influences the "legend you leave behind". It's cute n fun n multiplayer

If you both are willing to try it out, I definitely recommend playing Baldur's Gate 3 together~! With the two of you, combat will go by much quicker & is much more fun than doing it all yourself, so lots more time getting to enjoy the story, characters, and exploration! At the very least, I would certainly love to see you both play and have a silly good time with it! 🤍

The best two player story game in my opinion are Bioshock Infinite, Far Cry series (I've personally played 4, 5, 6, new dawn, Far cry primal). If you're into horror themed story based puzzle games, Resident Evil 6 is more Action based, and fairly easy to beat the campaigns together. Ada Wong and Sherry Birkin, they're the stereo typical; action horror female characters, but they're still badass. AND all of these are games that can be played as third person view as well. My best friend from college and I would play online together all the time, even after I moved back home, we would play for hours with her in between completing two courses remotely.

HEAR ME OUT: Star Wars Fallen Order and Survivor are the perfect (surprisingly cozy) games to play! My partner and I who aren’t that into SW lore played both together (we just switched off at different locations/storyline) and had the time of our lives! We played on story mode for me and so the fight scenes were veerrry easy and quick! Survivor has must better customization and you really don’t need to know much to from the 1st imo (we accidentally started there and then went back to play the 1st one)
