I'm following along your tutorial but it's not working. In the walking animation, I add events and give the Function name Step. In the attached script, I have a Step function with a Debug. The debug never fires where the events are BUT randomly fires SOMETIMES when the walking animation stops. Feels completely random. An ideas?

Quick fix: duplicate the sound instance then create another function and use that function for the right leg. Also make an if statement inside the 2 functions so that sounds would play while the character moves or if you press W.

Pretty clunky tutorial tbh. Its not working for me, surfaceMaterial never used.

Sorry that didn't work for you, logic applies the same still if you want to alter some design choices in game
