For those who watch this video it in 2019. Use SteamAudio. It has far superior Binaural plugin than FMOD does. UE4 also has more audio capabilities.

@@ThePCJakub Is there a tutorial on using fmod and steamaudio in unity and is it binural or just like the 3d panner in fmod?
@sonorityscape7 жыл бұрын
I tried just with a normal audio source emitter from FMOD without any Binaural effects and it's hard to tell the difference between yours and the regular way. Can you explain the audible differences? Also is there a way to have the sound automate to 2D or non-spacialized when you begin to approach or are close to the sound emiiter?

Hey, thanks for the video! I have a question: Why didn't you use the spherical mode on Logic's binaural panner? Cheers!

Honestly, I'm not really sure 😅 I made this video a while ago now and that probably would have made it all sound more effective.

only for create a debate, if we use more complex sounds it doesn't promote phase problems? i mean, if we put a scene duplicate too many times in mono and put them in hard panning, its doesnt provoke phase problems?? THAKS for your videos, you are saving my life :)

Yeah it proably would cause phase issues. Honestly there isn't much practical use to this method anymore. I think there are plug-ins for FMOD now that help with binaural audio. Thanks for your comment Berman. That's great to hear you're finding these videos helpful! :)

Maybe steam audio will something to do with real and effective binaural sound or even real 3D sound...

Aki Bilbao that would be great if they did! The only way I know of doing it properly is using plug ins from "Two Big Ears" www.twobigears.com , but they're not exactly easily accessible to those on a budget or crafting games for fun.

Hi! Love your videos! I don't know if i missed something but when do you "link" the parameter value to the unityengine? What makes the parameter direction change? When doing footsteps, we would get.parameter same for occlusion. How do we do it here? I haven't been able to try this tutorial yet since I don't use Logic but I didn't quite understand that last part. Thank you in advance!

Hi again Emmanuel, I didn't make it very clear in the video but I used the built-in parameter that comes with any FMOD session called 'Direction'. Click the + symbol next to where it says 'Timeline'. Click 'Add Parameter' then 'New Parameter' then 'Built-In' Parameter and choose 'Direction'. With this parameter you won't need to tell Unity to change the direction of your audio in the stereo field, it does it all for you.

Sort of ironic how you call yourself a sound designer, yet the sound of this video is so inaudible. :D

I'm just mad because Fmod is not doing what I want it to. Ignore my aggressive comment.

One more thing, instead of muting everything, and leaving one, Fmod has the option ("Solo") to give focus to that one track alone.

A bit of criticism never hurt anyone, I'll bump up the audio in future videos 👍🏼
