I have been playing nothing but Theodorakis since I heard of his death. My eyes are full of tears as I listen. My most heartfelt sympathy to his family, friends and all of Greece. Not to forget the rest of the world. His music will live on forever.

i hear mikis songs for many years but mostly greek songs..i hear this album for 2 years now in the kitchen i work (i m cooker)and i tried to understand neruda lyrics and i understood that all people of all world have the same problems with this economical system(for rich people)..i send my hello to latin america from europe

Brings back sweet memories of my student times, when we rose up with 1 million people to demonstrate peacefull in The Hague against the potential arrival of the neutron bombs. Mikis Theodorakis certainly was at our side. And yes, indeed, I also miss the man, with great texts and songs, fighting against injustice and foolish war investments.

No me caso de escucharte,ahora no estaras entre nosotros pero tu obra permanecerá por siempre. Has hecho posible que la poesia de Pablo Neruda sea conocida por todo el el mundo.Un binomio irrepetible . Para mi es la obra más importante de Theodorakis .Te crea un estado de paz al escucharlo y otras veces un grito que te recuerda que falta mucho para conseguir la Libertad y la Justicia en el mundo. ¡Hasta siempre maestro!

Mikis and Maria + choir made music that will survive for ever. I was lucky to buy LP recording at the begining of 80s. A Finnish singer Arja Saijonmaa has also been with Mikis doing Canto General. Fantastic music. Regards from Finland.

Thanks to a radio announcer in Boston back in the '70s, I found this work and immediately it became a most important part of my (mental) repertoire. In addition, it introduced me to the works of Theodorakis whose music I have found to be endlessly beautiful and fascinating. As old as I know he is now, may he still be composing for many years.

Well played. What a pity, the recording is so poor. I would wish for better sound quality! But anyway: the work is beautiful and it is one of my favourite music works of all, with Maria Farantouri being my favourite singer. She really has one of the most beautiful and touching voices in the world.
