A wonderful first flight Ian. I have been looking at this model for some time as i like the sliding canopy. Well done indeed. So good that your leg is getting better. A lovely looking plane & well handled by you … and captured well by Cheryl.

Thanks Noel, Fms now do a more modern 1.5m Mustang very similar to the E-flite one, but fir me the paint scheme on this one got my vote!! Because of the history involved, it's an old kit but still goes together well, and it does fly nice!! Thanks for watching and commenting 😀👍

P51 being one of my favourite warbirds… Just looks so lovely on the low fly by’s … Really enjoyed you tech talk over on the model and setup .. not easy at all but you research work paid off…. Thanks Brian!! I was very nervous, but it was a dream to fly but a tough one to land, I had four flights in all and that was probably the best landing of the morning!! On the other three flight because I felt more relaxed I switched off a bit when landing and bumped down quite hard a couple of times 😒 Thanks for watching and commenting Brian 😀👍

What a gorgeous P-51 and weather and maiden flight all in one here Ian ! Great videography as well Cheryl ! What no sitcom skit?!? LOL! Just kidding Ian, but I've gotten used to them! You two are funny! Those bigger 1.45mm Mustangs fly great...I used to fly them with a team of guys that all painted theirs in the 352nd fighter group markings (Blue Nose). They are under powered and the forums have all sorts of mods to get more power. I have to say the E-Flite 1.5 is really powered well on 6s. It is made for them by FMS. The motor/prop/esc may be interchangeable with your 1.45? I got to meet one of the Tuskegee airmen at a WWII weekend at Dixie Wings here in Georgia. Nice plane you have there, and you flew it well! I like the smoke detail you added to the guns and the fuel caps.

Aww we just couldn't think of a comedy sketch to do Adam!! And to be honest I was a bit to nervous before this maiden flight Lol Wow that must have been wicked meeting one of the Red Tail pilots!! Yes I was looking at the E-flite set up!! But don't want to go to 6s!! Even though I've got the lipo's!! Might just put the higher KV motor from the Fms P40 Warhawk and put a 90amp ESC in!! Fir more 4s power, that's when the parts come into stock in the UK I was shocked how well it flew!! But it didn't feel as locked in as the 1.2m E-flite one I had a few years back!! The Mustang is probably my favourite WW2 fighter. Have you seen the new Top Gun? Theres a great scene early on in the film showing Tom Cruise working on his own Mustang and on the big screen it was a breathtaking sight.

Hi thanks for the message, sadly I haven't run the big Mustang much only about 4 flights!! The last couple of summers in the UK have been a bit of a wash out and the grass at the field was to long and lush to fly any of my warbirds, even the summer gone I tried to maiden my E-flite 1.2m Corsair but it ended in a broken prop and some foam damage!! I was going to try the Mustang again but then I became unwell and didn't get chance to try it 😒

Well at first, on the maiden flight I did think it was under powered, but on the other flights I enjoyed it and thought that it flew nice and scale!! There is a mod that other people have done which involves fitting a faster motor and increasing the pitch on the propeller blades, but as I'm very rarely able to fly it due to long grass I decided to keep it stock and save a bit of money!! But I agree with you it is a fantastic looking Mustang 😀👍

It didn't need balancing to be honest, just as well as it wouldn't fit on my Dubro balancer 😒

You highlighted the build was somewhat problematic, this wouldn't be an easy plane to disassemble for storage I'd imagine?

Yes it's not the easiest of planes to take apart!! The wing is a bit on the big side once the two halves are joined together, they also take up a lot of space to store!! If your looking for a Mustang I think both Fms and Eflite now do a 1.5m plane that goes together in a much simpler fashion 😀👍

Flying it I was flat out all the time and it had a bit of a flat spot around half throttle, but I guess it looked scale 😀👍
