FMS 1220mm Ranger on floats

Maiden flight of a FMS 1220mm Ranger, directly on floats. Some tuning is made for 2nd and 3rd flights to improve the take-off distance on water. Videos on wheels coming soon !
Premier vol du Ranger 1220mm de FMS, directement en version hydravion. 2ème et 3ème vols avec réglages pour améliorer la distance de décollage sur l'eau en augmentant le débattement à cabrer. Vidéos sur roues à venir prochainement.

Hello. Servos are in pockets in the foam, with just dots of glue. Not any problem with this plane, its flying perfectly and is reliable.

It is equiped with a Jeti radio system, without gyro receiver, but the REFLEX module from FMS coming with the plane is installed and works perfectly.

Is water landing easier than wheels ?

Landing the Ranger on water is quite easy. Take off need more skills than on wheels, because the very long floats. A large amount of elevator throw is required to get the take-off pitch. For landing, no problem, stay wings horizontal, nose facing wing and make a standard flare, and keep elevator up at toutchdown.

@@mobeyond The front gear can't be removed on the 1220mm Ranger. The float set is designed to keep the front wheel when flying with floats. And this is not a problem, it work fine, and it is quick and easy to change from wheels to flaots or from floats to wheels.
