FMS ASW-17 POWERED AEROBATIC GLIDER | HIGH-G RACE DRONE CHASE: ESSENTIAL RC FLIGHT TEST

Out of the box there are literally just 7 components you need to click together before dropping in your receiver and setting it up on your transmitter ! No glue required and the only tool you will need is a 2mm allen key. It is so quick to assemble this glider you could just take the box down to the flying field and assemble it there !!!
This glider is built for high G aerobatics. Easy hand launch at half throttle and then power up to altitude, cut the throttle and the propeller will fold back to minimise drag, then head back to the strip and either listen to that characteristic zing as the wing cuts through the air on a fast fly by OR perform a slow axial roll to impress your fellow RC pilots in the pits. Repeat time and time again and then when you are ready for a break cruise around at altitude to take advantage of some thermals or drop the flaps and make a slow and low risk landing touching down on the wheel integrated into the fuselage. Have a cuppa tea while re-charging your 4S2200 to 2600 pack and go again !

WOW. That is a pleasure to watch fly. I really love gliders. Most of my experience was with high start "floaters" as opposed to powered/performance. I wish I had drone skills like your chase pilot. Kudos to your videographer as well. Thanks for sharing.

Just a suggestion, mix in some rudder into your Ailerons you should see an increase in the roll rate

Aerobatic Glider yes! He pushed it to the limit that's for sure. Gain altitude. Cut off motor then do aerobatics.

Looks great! On the roll rate ... if you haven't already got aileron mixed into the flaps this is worth doing as it usually improves the response.

Slope maybe but I'm thinking the FMS Fox would be much better for thermalling.

I was diving this plane and noticed a very big wing flutter, It's scared me so I never did it again but after watching videos on KZbin it seems like you can do it, hmmm i dont know whats going on.

Sorry, I don't have the Albatross now. This ASW-17 is more agile because of it's clipped wing.

You are flying it as a power plane so you don't show its energy retension. Does it require power to make it through a loop? The real challenge with this type of model is to do the aerobatics whithout power then you can extend the flight time. It looks very much like the Multiplex Fun Ray in construction and assembly.

OK if you join an RC club and get assistance but a high wing trainer would be better

Like the OP said a high wing trainer would be best. Personally I started with the Arising star (Petrol) at a local club, but ST Models do the ASW28 which is still a foamy glider if you wanted a glider exclusively, personally I would trade out the servos and push rods and get some stronger and well balanced gear in since the stock is not great on the ST Models ASW28
