I have this same truck, I put in a fusion se 1200kv motor, 35kg servo, 90mm desert lizard shocks, pro-line 1/8 Chevy hd 2500 body (for trailing) black steel wheels with super soft tires and dual stage foams. The front bumper was cut off, fenders/stepsides removed, and the stock rear bed/rollbar and body are getting weathered/painted/rusted (for crawling) also currently working on a servo on axle mount to eliminate that terrible panhard bullshit up front.

Sounds like you have been putting in the time JP! I will have some tips with the front once the finish video comes out!

Definitely looking forward to seeing what you do with it. I just did some mods to mine. made shock towers and put some 90s on it, And some aluminum wheels. I haven't taken it out yet but hopefully next weekend.

I have the FJ40, installed a fusion Pro , works amazing but can’t get rid of gear noise . It was noisy when I first bought it, but worse after the hobby wing . The pinion would not come off the old motor so I put on an axial 14 tooth pinion , noisy, played with gear mesh , noisy, tightened mesh , noisy, loosened mesh , noisy, greased the hell out of it, noisy. I’ve greased entire driveline before motor swap and I know the e noise is from transmission as I’ve isolated it. Unless you have any ideas , my next step is to heat up old pinion , install onto hobbywing and try again

I was also thinking about noise, but when I compared it to my other rigs with metal gears it is actually less noisy then my vanquish rigs! Not sure though if maybe yours has an issue but I will bring it up in the finish video!

Hey Gerry , thought I’d give you and anyone who cares an update on my FMS FJ40. I resolved the gear mesh noise by installing the original pinion gear it came with. The pitch was different , not obviously different , but if you sit and stare at it long enough, you can see that the teeth spacing is off just slightly, enough to cause a HORRIBLE noise you can’t get rid of. Anyway , if anyone changes motor , make sure you get the correct pitch pinion gear , or re use the original . I tried 3 different pinions , lots of grease , finally figured it out .
