@tonkatoy42073 ай бұрын
I upgraded to the SIG spring but I'm afraid to use a rod that allows the spring to contact the slide. Here's why. My wife and I both have TX22's. When we first got them, the stock rod only captured the spring on one end. The other end was directly against the slide. After the first range visit while cleaning, I noticed both TX22s had small gouges in the slide where the spring was digging in. Lo and behold I found some articles where some people's TX22 slides had failed due to the spring constantly digging into the aluminum. I fixed ours with Lakeline Buffered Stainless Recoil Assy. It has a polymer buffer that prevents the spring from contacting the slide. I wish I could find something like this for the 502. With that said, I love the way the 502 shoots, but it can be finicky with bulk ammo. But the TX22 eats anything. If I get a light strike with 502, I just load the same round in TX22.
@bhoff5129714 күн бұрын
I was just at the range today, out of two hundred rounds I felt like every fifth round was a light strike. Thankfully, being hammer fired meant I could save the ammo and just reset the hammer and try again. 99% of the time after the reset the round fired.

I’m not really good on buying from china, I know sometimes it’s in your best interest, but I try to buy American as much as I can. I also realize that a vast amount of weapons are better made in other countries. So until America makes the best weapons, I guess a lot of gun owners will buy from the better companies? Just my thoughts on the situation.
@yankeecowboy9 ай бұрын
99% of American gun manufacturers do business and source the stuff from over seas, I agree but when you need your weapon to function the way you want then you have to get it from the only game in town. FN herstal is a Belgium company and makes guns for USA brands like browning at one point, it’s just how things are done these days. Look at CT was the gun capitol of the world at one point and this government drove 99% of our founding gun manufacturers out of this state.

I've had the 502 for around 5 weeks now. I haven't had any functional issues except when racking the slide manually the stock guide rod and spring felt and sounded line it was binding slightly. I installed the Apex guide rod only with the stock spring and it's much smoother. I'm running the Holosun 407k green dot and I haven't had any issues including when dropping the slide stop on a topped off mag. Most of what I've seen in forums and the FN 502 FB group is that most say to replace the guide rod and forgo the Sig spring because of the many issues that arise from standard and lower velocity rounds plus they say it hammers the inside of the slide when it goes back into battery. Just a heads up of things you may want to be aware of when shooting the next time. Maybe a follow up video?
