when i was entering my senior year of high school, my grandmother was in the hospital. instead of going to school, i skipped that day, as i had a bad feeling something was going to happen to her. My mother took me to visit her in the hospital, and that day the decision was made to pull the plug. she had been in a coma and on life support. i wanted to be there to support my grandmother, but my mom made me leave the room. she knew something i didn't. they say that pulling the plug on life support gives a peaceful death, but seeing it happen yourself is anything but peaceful. my mom described it as a violent writhing, thrashing and shaking as the body fights to breath when it's incapable of doing so. she said it was terrifying to watch. personally, i wouldn't know how seeing that would feel, or how i would describe it, but Michael was in the room to see this happen to his own brother, so imagine being a 14 year old and having to see that. a violent trashing as the body tries to gasp for one last breath
