Mint cake is a very old version of an energy bar. It's basically just sugar, and it's only really meant to give walkers and climbers an energy boost.
@leisascott7971Ай бұрын
When I was a mountain guide I always carried it, for exactly that purpose. My first aid box would always have a bar in it

When you're freezing to death halfway up a mountain with a sprained ankle, Kendal mint cake will make you feel even colder and more unfortunate: when your last meal could've been a Snickers or a sausage roll...

Mint Cake is a traditional energy bar, that's why it's popular amongst hikers and mountaineers, it's a good quick fix for when you bottom out (severely run out of energy) and you'll find it on the counter of every UK hiking shop, it was used by the first team to summit Everest, the Scottish equivalent called 'Tablet' is vanilla flavoured with a texture like mint cake and fudge had a baby. The Lake District is gorgeous, very similar to Snowdonia in Wales where I live, but even as a proud Welshman, I'd have to say pretty much the most beautiful and scenic everything in the UK, including roads, is in Scotland, it's just so rugged in the Highlands and they have the closest to what you could call genuine wilderness in the whole of the UK, to put it into context, the Lake District has six 3000+ft mountains, Snowdonia 15 but Scotland has a whopping 282!
@DaveyPalmer1Ай бұрын
That is a fab drive through 'The Lakes' and you guys made it such a lot of fun to watch. I'll give a shout out to the A82 in Scotland which is simply stunning, especially the stretch from Rannoch Moor to Glencoe. One road that some of your viewers may not be aware of is the A708 from St.Mary's Loch to Moffat in the Scottish Borders. It's a breathtaking drive and well worth a look if you're up that way.
