Weeeeellll, you're right. It did take a long time for the Alternate to drive him to insanity. Mark did also engage the Alternate with a pistol... after a while of rocking back and forth while holding his bible, crying, and calling for his mother and father. Only then, if I recall correctly, did Mark put 4 bullets in his door and, eventually, take his own life. In my opinion, it wasn't an act of bravery or determination. It was an act of fear and desperation.

Mark’s life in Mandela Catalogue has been pretty fucked up, as a child he encounters a Intruder and now ends with himself committing suicide after getting cornered in his room by HIS OWN FRIEND’S alternate + Then we have Gabriel which is telling us that even in Jesus Times, there were Alternates and Gabriel even dethroned Jesus, so the only thing that Mark thought that would give him protection : praying, literally did nothing since he was praying the whole time to Gabriel, the “god” of alternates
