Fun fact: Greenio confirmed on his Twitter account, that Mania Mario and Stanley are not the same person (the mangled Mario at the end of the promo show episode was just Mario, not Stanley) I think the beginning is just Mario and BF singing together, then Stanley interrupts the song and takes over at the 2nd half (Stanley copied Mario's voice, because he doesn't have his own voice, because of limitations. Stanley can only speak in text)

Also here’s some lore for y’all: Mario had spent hours with his mind, trying different things to get out, but nothing worked. Why wouldn’t the game time him out? Where even was he? Suddenly, he heard a voice. ‘What are you doing this far out, youngster? You don’t seem to be from around here.’ Mario explained how he was trapped here after dying to a koopa shell. The voice then introduced himself as Stanley. He told Mario wpthat this was a place where people weren’t meant to ever escape. And after a while, they made a plan. They’d set a ‘show’ of sorts to draw attention, and then show the world what had happened to them. Everyone in the mushroom kingdom (Mario had called them via land phone and there was a power outlet in the cage, presumably so he could charge his phone and such so he opulent be bored.) was on plan. But right as they started, a little blue haired unknowing midget fell down. Mario improvised by thinking he was trapped with him aswell now, immediately offering him a place on the show to make sure he would have a chance to get out as well, so he didn’t spend his days in there aswell. He agreed, and they were friendly at first, until Mario found himself shocked. Luigi had drowned in an underwater level and Mario had to grieve. But now wasn’t the time. From all the time spent with Stanley, he learned one thing. Both of them were very slowly going insane. And Luigi drowning was the last straw. Stanley broke into Marios’ body, temporarily and let loose his anger. He told the blue hair what had happened. And that was that.

No, Promotion is actually connected to Abandoned and The End. The reason Luigi drowned is because Mario and Stanley (the AI who took Mario's form at 1:23) was promoting SM64, and they used Luigi for a playtest, but at some pount he entered a submerged room, and drowned (duh).
