@@plzsub6472 He makes recreations, he doesn't have to change the assets. Although the code is written by someone else, he still has to chart the songs and add mechanics, which takes a lot of effort. It's easier to base it off of someone else's engine instead of making a entirely new one.

the "engines" are projects that are meant to be remixed and give a head start for other users. Also I dare you to look at the dark side of scratch and what it truly is. There are horrible sides of the site with online dating and scratch encourages it's users to steal. Even you can still report stealers they normally do nothing about it. It does not even have to be on the site to steal but you can also steal other things like fanart and music and reupload it to the site without giving credit.
