If you'll remember correctly, Sans didn't originally have pink slippers, it was a fan made thing that Toby liked and later became a part of Sans' character altogether, and was released on official game merch. The COMMUNITY made that indentation because of our own perception check, and Toby liked it. So maybe, just maybe, if we hype up this design of Mike enough, we'll get it to be in the game, cause Toby pays attention to and cares about his community.

I agree, but I do feel like it makes some amount of sense, since Kris “sings” using the ACT sound effects, so Mike kinda has to carry the song. He’s essentially the lead instrument, so it makes sense for him to be the louder of the two, and subsequently for the song to bend to his vocals more so than the other way around.
