Honestly, M melting due to the lava makes more sense when you consider that Starman Slaughter is set in CoolRash's World 1-3, where the death is Luigi's corpse splattering apart rather than getting burned. Then again, the fire from CoolRash World 1-1 is present in the background of the original song, which could explain him melting.

A little Fun Fact: one of Ultra M's inspirations isn't just super horror Mario, Ultra M also has an inspiration from coolrash's mario.exe, Unfortunately the only reference to mario.exe coolrash in ultra m that I know is just the green mushrooms in the song "It's a me", But in the original concept art for the song "All stars", ultra m has the colors of the original Mario, just like mario.exe coolrash

Interestingly yoshi was never appears in first super mario bros for NES well he was almost planned to appear Shigeru Miyamoto he came up with the concept for the original super mario bros he was originally he wanted mario to ride on the horse for companion however idea was rejected due to hardware limitations of NES it wouldn’t tell until super Mario world yoshi makes his first appearance
