Watching this with an iPad. The sound is really strange. It seems to echo a lot and also switch sides (left - right) a lot.

I believe that you are able to customize the range because in most PLC's programs you can linearize the input current to something that the computer can read. I work on a PLC that it linearizes 4 - 20 ma to 0 - 8198 "data points". It means that 8.00 ma = 4095in this range.
