I taped this Düsseldorf gig on VHS from VIVA channel around 1998 - '99. It sadly got lost and I always wanted to find this specific video ever since, and now I have. The year is now 2024, hello people of the earth.. Seriously I think this concert is just as awesome now as I thought it was then! Mike Patton really is on top of his game here. I also love the hilarious sarcastic small talk between the songs at the bar!

I, for one, feel very fortunate to have seen Mr Bungle in 1992. Out of a pretty large group of friends, many who were FNM fans, NO ONE got into them but me. I get that they're unique but in a bone crushing mind bending way. Twenty years later I STILL enjoy listening to them.

All of this music is so damn tight. A lot of people are asking why Mike's being an asshole about Bordin playing in Korn, etc...I dunno, overall, this period really seems to be Patton at some of his most experimental/complicated, and his ego and attitude are off the chart. That isn't necessarily a good or bad thing, it's just a thing. Like Zappa and other dudes with a 'tude, it might rub some thing wrong way. I've always wondered if the Bungle fallout was a bit of unspoken fallout between Patton and Spruance; they were the pair that had the only discontinuation of working together...until Trey showed up at a Mondo Cane gig playing acoustic. That seemed to lead to him joining up for the big KFAD Faith No More show. Anyhoo, Patton conducts himself a lot more humbly in interviews these days, so maybe returning to FNM and aging was a humbling experience. Oh well, I'm rambling, and I love cocky musicians and chill ones. Plus I don't know shit!

A little (musical) life changing moment, seeing it broadcasted on Tv back then.
