One of the best reviews I have seen in a long time. I loved how you took your time to explain each and every item on this gun. Cold hammer forged barrel, (3) 17 round clips, ambidextrous controls, whats not to like! I'm sold! Thank you for a great review.

+Justin Opinion loving both my FNS 9 and 9 compact, just waiting for the full size mag release to come back in stock so I can put on my compact.....only issue I have is that recessed mag release. Don't know why they didn't go with the same mag release as the full size. Great vid as always bud.

Oh man, I want one! That FNS 9 looks amazing. You show a great attention to the details that others don't show or mention. I'm shopping around for a new pistol to buy and your videos are of tremendous help. Nothing beats going to the gun shop and holding the firearm in your hand but this video is the next best thing. Thank you Justin, looking forward to watching more of your videos.

A well thought out, informative review. Unlike a few other reviewers, you covered every point (with professionally paced dialog) of the FNS-9 to a tee. Fine shooting by the way. I just acquired the FNX-9 da/sa. A work of art shooting wise, and other wise. Its light, single action trigger pull is a marvel. Dead on accurate. the FNS-9, and the FNX-9 do compliment each other. I subbbed!

Is the stainless piece covering the ejection port scratched by the slide on yours?
@etebol4 жыл бұрын
yes, its normal to have two exactly perpendicular lines running along the barrel; it happens when it slide goes back and forces the barrel ever so slightly down to allow the next bullet to take its place in the ramp, thus help with feed process.

Great video, appreciate your extra thorough reviews! I finally shot one of these earlier this month and liked it a ton. Was originally sold on a Sig320 - which was a great gun - but for the $$, this was a real treat. Plus, THREE MAGS? Ordering one as a Christmas present to myself.

mat13lancer Every time I'm about ready to get a revolver, another semi comes around that I just gotta have instead. Almost picked up a super sweet used Smith .357 the other day - but once again let the black poly distract me. My very first gun - Model 10. Still have it, and I keep saying it deserves a video.

Justin Opinion Gotta love the Model 10. Had one when I first started in LE.

I think your shots to the right of the target are due to you hooking the trigger in the first finger joint instead of placing your trigger directly on the pad of your finger. Thanks for the video ... just bought one of these yesterday. :)
@82luft497 жыл бұрын
I noticed that too, but not as bad as Hickok45 who shoots all the way up to the knuckle.

Terrific review. Having bought one of these about when you did I see a lot of me in your review. I know that the construction is top notch, the engineering perfection and the attention to detail in design and features is unparalleled. So, why did I not love this pistol the way I'd hoped? While you listed all the great features and so on, I didn't hear the same enthusiasm in your voice I heard for the P320, for example. And I felt the same way. I should like it more, why don't I? I saw and heard some things in your review that might shed some light. For one thing, I put the small backstop in as it felt like it should fit my glove sized M hands better. Maybe I should change back to the bigger one for some testing? You mentioned the 1911 in this review and I had already noticed that the grip angle is very similar, if not identical. I am having much more trouble getting comfortable with the trigger than you did and I wonder if the same 1911 comparison might not be true there, too. While they seem to be all the rage in competitive shooting, I'm not liking the almost straight trigger. But that's not the only thing about it. I noticed that when you shoot, the trigger does not fall all the way back to the frame. It stops, kind of the way the SA 1911 trigger stops as soon as the hammer falls. I am actually hurting my finger when pulling the trigger because my hand wants to pull it to the rear they way I do with my M&P 9. Or the SR9c I owned. Or the Glock 19 I owned. I'll have to think of it as if I'm shooting a 1911 instead of a striker fired pistol. Note to self: Do NOT try to force the trigger to the frame. I haven't shot it for several months now and I wonder if I, as you appeared to, felt like I had to work too hard to make the pistol work; it wasn't fun. The problem may center around the trigger and my not noticing the difference and adapting. -- Just went down and put the large backstop back in and dry-fired it thinking, "1911" and it makes all the difference. Thanks for being my visual aid! Now to get it back out to the range.

I own the FNX 40, same frame same grip, if you still have this FNS9 I would suggest getting the talon grip for it in the rubberized grip and it will make the grip feel even more amazing! I use the flat backstrap on mine and with the talon grip on the aggressive texture pushes into the rubber and makes it still retain it's bite, Just a suggestion for you sir

Hey! Nice video. Have you noticed some 9's have a pencil like barrel now? There's a lot more space around the barrel at the end of the slide where barrel comes out especially at the top end of the barrel. Have you noticed in some models? Wondering if you knew why. Thanks
@danharrison75008 жыл бұрын
the Fns 9 barrel is cold hammer forged and that is the reason for the thin barrel. It is very strong and lasts forever.

It also cuts down on weight.

Very good review Justin! I know it's an older video, but I was looking at reviews to see if any issues surfaced on the web about the FNS. I was on the fence between a XD9 Mod 2, M&P9, CCP and the FNS-9 for the wife. She likes all of them and shoots the FNS and XD very well. It seems like the FNS has the fewest if any complaints at all other than the XD, (Basically the same love around the web as the FNS.). Since I'm not giving up my XD it look as if the FNS-9 is in her future. LOL!

Nice looking gun. I have an off topic question, and I am asking this seriously because I don't know... Does it hurt a dogs hearing to fire guns around them? I'm not a hunter, but I know guys use bird dogs all the time, and I saw that German Shepherd wondering around behind you. Just wondering.
@JustinOpinionChannel9 жыл бұрын
mark schick That's a very good question, and I'm no expert at all. I'm always cautious when I bring my buddy with me, and I either make sure that he is free to move to a comfortable distance, or I'll keep him in the truck with windows up on the shooting side. But on this day, and many others, he seems fine with the noise. There are times when he will get up and move farther away, so I know he is making the decision for himself. I'd love to hear opinions from experts on the topic too, because the last thing I'd want to do is damage my best buddy's hearing. He loves to come with me though.

if you can find one under $600 ,do not hesitate; I am sure this will be one of those people look back after they been out and discontinued for 100 years and want one. Not only for collector value, but is just built like a tank. If anything a solid investment. Shoot it "wet" with some quality synthetic lube, said the old man at the range.

@JustinOpinionChannel9 жыл бұрын
+Chris Imes I understand that and I take care to be sure he is at a distance, and I constantly watch him for signs of distress (which is different that just nervousness). Hunting dogs are much closer to the sound of gunfire (rifles and shotguns, no less). I wouldn't ever knowingly hurt my buddy, which is why he usually stays home. But he really likes to come along...
