Thank you for watching. Have you ever been involved in foal handling before? Did you enjoy it?. Don't forget to grab your FREE mini ebook (link is in the video description) for the 3 principles I believe should be at the forefront of your mind when you are training horses.

Thanks for you comment. You have just given me an idea! I am about to bring Lilly in to do some “yearling” work with her so I might just film it. Thank you 😊

You can email me no worries. Go and look in the promotions tab of your email. I bet it is sitting there. You will need to move it into your inbox so you email server stops putting me there 😆. If I not there I could be in the junk folder 😝.

My trainer’s mare had her baby while she’s on vacation, I had no idea what to do to get that baby started! Thank you for the guidance, now the little one is taking naps near me in the stall and just seems a lot more at ease ❤

I was just catching up on some of your older videos and I was wondering a couple of things. What kinds of things like fencing supplies or equipment, every day barn things and anything else do you try to keep away from the foal’s stall and enclosure or paddock to try to eliminate any issues or injuries? Have you ever changed anything that you use around the barn or turnouts that you have used in the past due to injury or safety issues

Hello 👋 thank you for your videos they are so helpful! I have a foal that is 2 1/2 months old her mother is blind and was abused very badly. When she had any human contact she was cattle prodded so he mother usually runs when she hears anyone . I think her foal (named Easter) watches her mom and then does the same thing. Running from me sometimes etc. Little Easter is not halter trained she runs away if she even sees it. Would you have any advice for me as to how to halter train her? Do you think she runs because he mother does? I just don't knew what to do. Thank you so much!

Hi! Sorry I’m late. I have handled a yearling and tried to train it. But I ended up in the ER 5 minutes in training the yearling.

I'm sorry to hear that Hazel. I hope you make a quick recovery. Get some help from a reputable person to help you with your yearling. Training young horses is an art in itself and certainly has the potential to be dangerous. X

Ours due any day. Thank you for your tips 🙏🙏 can I ask about rugging a foal? Will the mare be ok with a rug if it happens to have a scent? Should I rub the rug on something of mums perhaps? TIA 🙏

@@BasicHorseTraining I just thought it would get cold if its rainy or extra cold night?
@BasicHorseTraining
@BasicHorseTraining Ай бұрын
@katemaree5826 if they can get shelter from the wind (particularly) and rain they will be right. Mums milk will warm them. Make sure mum has enough good food to make good milk. You can rug them if needed but I never have. I bring them in to shelter if there is bad weather. The mare will be fine if you need to pop a rug on the foal. 😊 PS come back and let me know what you have 🥰. I have one due in 4 weeks.

@@BasicHorseTraining thank you, I will do. Can't wait 🥰 I rug all my horses when it's cold and rainy as some have shelter, some don't. Even the ones that have shelter often stand out in the cold and rain 🥴 Thank you for your reply and best of luck with your impending foal 🙏 Will you be videoing more episodes with the foal? I can't get enough learning 🙏🙏

I have 3 months filly, she is rearing up some time when I lead her. Please can you give me any advice. Thank you
@BasicHorseTraining
@BasicHorseTraining 3 жыл бұрын
She needs to learn to give to the pressure of the halter in a forward step. The tricky bit with foals is that they can rear and then fall over hurting themselves if you are not sure what you are doing so I'm hesitant to give advice as the written word doesn't always convey what you mean accurately. See if you can find someone locally that handles foals and young stock to come and give you a few pointers. Sorry to not be of much help to you Anya.

I'm rescuing a meat horse who's skin and bone, she's possibly pregnant. I'm in Wyoming, and people here either leave them completely feral or expect way to much. I don't believe in either. I don't have any experience with foals, but I did go to school for horses. I'm just looking for videos on gentling them, making them not afraid of stuff, how to pick up feet, and walk on a lead. I do have a 2 year old, but that's a much different stage of life. BTW where did you find those fabulous mom jeans, the ones with the black?
@BasicHorseTraining

OMG Kevin ... I have no idea where those jeans are from sorry. Just remember to keep you sessions super short with your foal. Good luck.
