A foam core board model is good for constructing and studying the basic shape of the structure. But, if you want to see the actual building materials including siding, roofing and details, I recommend building with the 3-D Home Kit, which can be found online. You can also combine the foam core board and material sheets from the kit.

The tools are very well designed, ergonomic. What should be designed next is a clamping device for the straightedge, similar to the types used in woodworking. Incorporating a small battery operated laser line would be nice too.

I've started using this stuff like many people, for props. for costumes and the like. I was considering buying the tools mentioned... till i saw the prices. to which i realized its easier to get my stuff cut from the sign shop i buy my plastic from. $50 for ONE tool. crazy.

I am not able to get a sharp corner with the v groove tool...........what am I doing wrong or not doing?

Hello i have the same problem but i also might have possible a solution instead of using both blades on v groove tool use only one, then cut from one side of V, then flip and cut on the opposite side, that way u will make sure that both diagonal cuts are exactly the same angle and depth. the problem with v groove tool is that both blades arent exactly aligned to the point where the tips of the blades meet each other but are slightly of and that why you get two different angled cuts and two different depth which leads to rounded corner instead of them being sharp hope that helps

I've been watching your videos in model making and they are amazing! ,but one question I have in regards to model making. when we make a model of a house or any particular project at hand do we scale the balsa wood or cardboard the same way we scale a drawing on paper. etc 1/4 ,1/8, 3' ....... do we have to put the scale on top of the cardboard and cut it according to the scale you want it to be ? I want to do a model of my house in 1/2=1'-0" scale how would I go about it? is their any book out their to help me further in this subject.Read more
