I follow many nests, like many here, and always wish the best for all.... but this season there are 2 nests for which I hope with all my heart eggs and chicks, these 2 nests had difficult moments last season: NEFL and Big Bear.... I was online with the rest of the 5,200 people watching. I found it very interesting that Shadow was with our girl for quite some time before she gave him the high sign. I think he was there running interference from the ravens. They were giving her quite the time the other night. Personally, it was funny because I was in a hurry to leave my abode, but it was clear that we likely weren't going to be faked out this time. I put the phone aside, still on the cam, as I said, "Da** it, Jackie, just lay the egg!" Within less than a minute as I packed up my stuff to go, I heard the first tea kettle come through my phone. No going anywhere then! It was so cute to watch Shadow block her from any potential intruder with his body. I guess after she gave him the boot, he had to watch on his phone, like the rest of us. 😂

Every year, I hope and pray that the next one will be different better . The weather is harsh, the nest offers no warmth or comfort, nest bowl??, ravens 😠. I look over nest when the first egg is laid, but then do not watch. I used to. I sincerely.hope that there will be successful hatch/hatches and that they will survive/thrive and fledge.
