I saw Jan Akkerman play at a small venue here in the UK about 10 years ago. He was magic. At one point he busted a string, kept on playing whilst walking to the back of the stage. He proceeded to change the string whilst still playing. Never missed a beat. Insane.

I am 62 years old I have heard anything from 20s gypsy music to Modern Day stuff as a musician of 40 plus years I have heard many many musicians and rubbed elbows with many great musicians. Yes there are a lot of great musicians out there today also but they are not in the mainstream. I was speaking from my heart and not my head I should have said there's nobody in mainstream music today that compares to them.

@I Love Aviation - Burger Club - always open. Mr Aviation I don't claim to know all but I definitely know quite a bit about music ever heard of a Girl by the name of Rachel flowers ever heard of John Gary Mario Lanza, Django Reinhardt? have seen everyone from the Beatles to Rush to ZZ Top and everything in between and I have seen many Broadway plays including cats Les Miserables I have seen the Quincy Jones Orchestra many times obviously you're the one with a small Horizon because if you paid attention I put another post on there had you read it you would understand what I meant with my comment. To make the comment that you made not knowing who the hell you're talking to can be really unhealthy for you.

I am 62 and saw them live in 1972 when I was 12. I have seen a lot since then. How could I have known I was watching my favourite band with the best guitarist I would ever see ( sorry Guthrie and Alan ) at that young age.

I like Jan Akkerman’s guitar performance very much. His guitar makes out an astonishingly strong notes and he has a heart of music, as well as an incredible skill of playing the guitar. How old was he at that time?He has not only outstandingly command on guitar , but also musical heart which will penetrate into the heart of each individual of audience.

Midnight Special showed the intensity with which they could perform, but this version is a lot more playful. I love the cheeky Akerman nudges thrown in randomly, which van Leer takes in good humour like as if they're just jamming in a garage.

@jameslanclos56810 ай бұрын
What's up with the sloppy guitar intro? Sounds nothing like the record. The guitarist needs to 'focus' more on his playing.
