Hi, thanks for the question! The big catch phrase that actors/coaches go on about is "In the moment". If you start with an emotion and as a result of being "in the moment" you start feeling something else, then allow yourself to change, allow the emotion to evolve. The emotion that you start with should only prep you for the scene, being connected to the "Other" will determine where that initial emotion leads. Have fun & don't judge emotions, give them permission to exist. I hope this helps.

Hi thanks for the question. It really comes down to practice. This goes for Jellell11 as well. Practice. practice, practice... Set up a camera, grab some scripts and just start doing it. Have fun. Don't put pressure on yourself to perform, just have fun. Do the scripts in many different ways and focus on having fun. Be silly, be stupid be extraterrestrial if you want, the main thing is to relax and have fun while practicing. Let me know how you go and if this helps.

@daisyariella Hi Daisy, I admire your commitment to being outstanding! Have a look at my other videos to get a flavor of where I am coming from in terms of acting. The way to improve your facial expressions is to simply let them take care of themselves. Stay connected to your 'Other' and allow expressions to come as a result of that connection. Feel free to send me a message with specific questions and I'll do my best to address your specific needs.

Thanks for the suggestions. I never acted before but I took my first adult acting class while my son had his kid acting class. Both classes are at the same time. I had a lot of fun and now I would like to audition for a part in the community theater, Treasure Island, but I am not sure how to prepare for it besides reading the book Treasure Island. The parts that I want are: 1) George Merry or 2) Israel Hands. I enjoy playing the villain. What else can I prepare for this audition. Thks

Same for me in a way. You just need to practice reading aloud more. Try taking inas many words in advance as you can. And don't rush it either. That should help!

@ByonMitchell Absolutely!!! You never really know why you did or didn't get in and I can tell you a lot of the time talent isn't the reason. Keep trying, don't let anyone else dictate your success or otherwise. All the best!!

@TheDeonFoster Hi. Totally fine to use an accent in your cold reads! The only hesitation is if your accent is not rock solid. If the accent isn't great, probably best not to show them this, instead go with your normal voice and use the time between audition and callback to brush up on the accent! :)

Thanks for your videos they have helped me a lot. Also about cold reads you said that you take a risk and you give something that your character wants without even reading the script yet. What happens during the cold read if you realize what your character wants is wrong? Also when you said "you take a risk" do you mean like you compleatly guess what your character wants?

@TheDinseyChannelfan Hi, make up little plays with her. Feed her imagination and have lots of fun. There is no rush to get to auditions etc. Read plays for children with her and act them out. It is wonderful that you are wanting to help her! all the best. :)
@homeactingcourse12 жыл бұрын
It is rare to be asked to cold read without a single read first. If you did & realized during that you are "wrong" well, if you can't make a mistake there's no risk! However if you fully commit to what your character wants then chances are while "wrong" it would still carry truthfully & you'll get another chance. Generally you'll get at least one read first, don't completely guess, use what you are given in the script to make an informed decision on what the character wants and commit 100%.

Not a problem as long as you have the accent down very well! :)

Hi, sorry for the tardy reply, I have obviously missed your audition. There are many ways to help calm the nerves. One of the best ways is your preparation. If you have your lines down incredibly well, if you have done your research, if there is nothing left for you to do except the actual audition then your mind is at ease. Also try not to focus on an outcome. (I will be doing a video on this soon) If you are fully prepared for an audition then the only thing left is to enjoy it. Have fun! :)

@homeactingcourse Thank you for the advice. I was wondering how I can get her to start making up plays. Whenever I ask her what she wants to do she just says "I don't know". How can I help her make up a play that she would enjoy acting out?

@TheEmperorDalek987 Hi! There are a number of websites that you can join to get auditions. Do some searches. To start you off here are the two main ones, there are plenty more. Search for AT2 & Showcast. I wish you all the best!

If they want you to impro or do a monologue they will ask. Generally speaking they are very busy, they know what they are looking for and 'hopefully' how to quickly see if you have what they want. I personally don't think it would be a good idea to offer a medium outside of their current focus. That's not to say it won't work but you'd really need to know what you are doing, otherwise I think that risk may be too great. Take your risks within their area of focus. :)

@silverchair420 The main thing is to take the pressure off yourself. Quite often actors are so intent on getting the gig they get nervous & confidence flies out the window. Have fun! Forget about getting the role & just have fun acting. If you take the pressure off yourself to get the job and simply see the audition as an opportunity to have fun you will soar! Once you've finished the audition, let it go and get ready to have fun at the next one. Look after yourself and the rest will come.

@baddmaddogg Hi, if you can't afford to take an acting class, I recommend that you try and join a local theater company. Learn the ropes on the job. You'll probably start in small roles but that is good while you are learning. All the best and have fun!

outrageous advice from someone who has done how many auditions.....if you edit yourself try to focus on method or technique and keep your beliefs about "How it is...." to yourself maybe.....
