Your plants look so good already! Some of those are huge! It'll be a while yet here before I can do more than dream & plan! 🙂 I did find that the 3 peach seeds I prepared last fall to stratify in my refrigerator have all sprouted! That was exciting! Looking forward to your garden tours this year, you have such a green thumb & are so inspiring!! God bless!

I was going to ask you if you ever grew the loofah plant. I would love one. When we owned our home we were the second owners of this house and the man was a rose grower. He had been in many rose magazines and even started his own hybrid but when his wife died he needed to stay busy all his children live in other states. When my husband and I went to the open house the realtor was good friends with the man's son so he told us all about his roses. We had like 20 rose bushes in the back yard and next to each rose bush was the name of the rose and wow they were beautiful. When we moved in the basement had a big metal cabinet and inside was all his fertilizer that he made so I was pretty excited they were there but maybe 5 years of living there my beautiful roses were slowly dieing I ran out of his fertilizer and I bought organic stuff from home depot but no luck by the time we had our house fire which was 12 years of living there I only had 3 rose bushes that were still going strong. But my dreams were to plant more vegetables and have my kids start there little gardens. Sorry I wanted to ask if you have alot of loofah's in the fall I love to buy one off you but only if you have any you could spear..lol do you start your seeds directly in the ground or do you plant them in the green house and then transfer them to your other gardens ?
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead Жыл бұрын
It depends on the type of seed weather or not ill start it in thenl ground or do a start in the greenhouse! The loofah I will direct sow into the ground. If it does well I may sell some things made with it!♡

I discovered a way to increase yield with corn. Instead of planting in rows plant in squares of like 4 feet by 4 feet. You will be surprised at your yield.
@SageandStoneHomestead
@SageandStoneHomestead Жыл бұрын
I was looking into that! Planting in blocks they say? How many inches apart do you think?
@vixxcottage

@@SageandStoneHomestead I did it in 4x4 blocks with walkway between blocks. I learned from my former husband. He liked square foot method by Matt Bartholomew. The first year I was amazed. Had enough in freezer for year and I sold extra at work. Everyone wanted some.

@@SageandStoneHomestead I did it 12 inches and apart. It was the square foot method. I don't grow corn anymore but it was delicious. Also the ground was very rich soil lots of compost and cow manure.

Hi there. Well, I have a quick question, (I hope anyway). I was approved to have a community plot in a garden space up here in BC. Our weather is pretty decent in the summer months. The plots are 8ft x 4ft. raised beds, (about 3fi high). I know I want to plant Oregano, Basil, Thyme, and Parsley so I can do my herb blends, but what else could I put in there to utilize the space that I have been given ??
