Fog Effects - Trains running late by days:
Since, trains are being late now-a-days, with the intent of capturing some popular South bound trains, visited the NDLS - MTJ section. I was planning to visit on Sunday since a couple of days before, but checked the status of GT and TN and they were cancelled for Sunday (those to reach NDLS on Sunday). Then I found that the GT Express scheduled to reach NDLS on Friday and Saturday were delayed by 2 days and 1 day respectively. I got almost sure that they will delay by few more hours so that I can capture them in day light. Luckily they didn't get too delayed to arrive in the night (as last time) except Tamil Nadu Express.
In addition to these, got to capture many other popular trains as well. Also, witnessed an unusual event of an Express train overtaking a Superfast.
The initial captures feature crawling trains due to much dense fog. As the fog gradually cleared, trains got fast and aggressive.

a small error, the NZM-KTT Jan Shatabdi exp. is 2060 not 2059. As a matter of fact all trains leaving NDLS in three directions namely Ghaziabad(LKO/MGS and beyond) and MTJ-AGC and beyond have higher (even numbers). For example the Rajdhanis and Shatabdis to Howrah and Lucknow from NDLS have the numbers 2302/2314 and 2004 while those coming to Delhi have the numbers, 2301/2313 and 2003. Likewise 2904/2926/2616/2626/2952/1954 have the higher/even numbers and on the way back they are 2903/2925/2615/2625/2951/2953). In this there are just two exceptions: NDLS-Jabalpur is 12191 and NZM-UDZ Mewar is 12963. If you know or more exceptions, feel free to share.

Okay. Then it might have been fixed. Personally, I have never seen any loco under perform. Trains with high average speed like GT express (60kmph for over 2000kms and 40 halts) is regularly getting WAP-4 for quite some time and still manages to abide by the time table in normal days. Not much delay observed (except in Fog). So, don't worry. WAP-5 will not let it (Paschim) down.

biut one more thing, in terms of top speed P5 is rated at 200 kmph if not more while the P7 peaks at 140 kmph... probably (have to confirm, though) P7 scores mainly on acceleration. I think for all trains travelling over 800 kms. I feel had the IR indigenized the technology better, then P5s are on any day a far better choice than any other loco. P4 is the stablest with no issues, P7 is said to heat up and P5s have problem of wheel slippage on wet-tracks. Am I correct???

WAP-5 has been tested at 180+kmph but rated 160kmph. It might do 200+ after some up-gradation may be (as I remember reading this somewhere long ago). P4 and P7 are generally experts in handling 24-coach loads while P-5 experts in speeding. As of the heating and wheel slip issues, I've only heard about wheel slippage of P-5. And as I said, never personally felt any loco under perform. No idea how IR decides to change or allot certain locos to certain trains. Even a WAP-4 can do 130kmph can be given to any premier train of India except the top two of-course.
