Synopsis: In ancient times, powerful Beasts rampaged the world. To combat them, a mysterious Taoist taught the five clans - the Clan of Metal, Wood, Water, Fire, and Earth - the extraordinary ability of Yin-Yang's five elements. Together, they drove the Beasts into the Fog Hill of the Hidden, imprisoning them in a captive realm. Within the Fog Hill lives another mighty Beast - the Qilin. Its immense power often attract Beasts desiring greater strength so that they may, one day, break out of the captive realm. Qilin therefore willingly sealed itself away in the Shield of Mighty Gate. In an attempt to save his mother, Wenren Yixuan, the envoy of Fire, unleashed the Shield of Mighty Gate without permission. Seeing an opening, the little Qilin took the chance and snuck out. With its escape, the Beast Realm shall soon fall into bloody chaos...

I was literally speehless the first time I saw this series. Not only are the fight scenes TRULY next level, but what they managed to do in only three episodes is unheard of. Episode 2 made me tear up for a character that literally was introduced in the same episode 😢 (those who have seen it know what I mean) This is a testament to how well done even the dialogue and music is. To say i'm excited for season 2 is a massive understatement ❤

There is some good plot and ideas in donghua. Like the founder of diabolisim donghua which is about a man who uses evil spirits to protect a clan from being genocided and he gets sealed away for being "evil" according to the clans who perpetuated the genocide.

I’ve watched a few Donghua before, can’t say all of them are as good though, but this one is probably the best, there is another one called Mo Dao Zu Shi (though it has bl undertones) that has good animation as well. More have been released recently though, so hopefully the quality has improved. I’m waiting for this studio’s new animation for which they released the trailer.

One of my greatest pet peeves when it comes to anime is when studios reuse the same sound effect with no variation at all over and over and it just dulls the meaning eventually. Eg: saitama vs boros, mob vs mogami, alter saber vs berserker, Luo lang vs nanashi etc. Also, japanese studios have insanely tight schedules to work with, unlike this series that took them over half a decade. You should watch "Redline" to see what japanese animators can do if time wasn't an issue.

Now that Funimation is partnered up with Bilibili, it is very likely that Season 2 gets simulcasted. Oh and if you are wondering about Season 1, Funimation would just upload it all if they did license S2. They actually just did that with the currently airing "The Daily Life of the Immortal King S2." They didn't have S1 beforehand when they announced they licensed S2, so they just went and uploaded the whole thing at the same time S2 premiered.
