Everything Is very clear, thanks. Even here in Italy the fog lights go off when you turn on the high beams. Maybe, these stay on because they aren't exactly fog lights, but additional headlights (or something like that). Respect for bikers!

New owner of a V85TT here. New subscriber too. This fog light video gave me two critical bits of info - the location of the factory fog light plug and the ID of the wires in it. Thanks much for that! Also, your response to one of the comments saying you leave the 12V wire unused was helpful. It's interesting that MG chooses to put a relay in the factory fog light kit. Hopefully, not installing a relay won't run too much current through the light switch on the handlebar. The wiring certainly can handle 1.5 amps - but hard to say about the contacts in the switch. The Suzuki V-Strom 650 had this problem because they ran full headlight current through the switch without a relay and many owners experienced fried switches after a few years of use. But the current on that bike with an incandescent headlight bulb was about 3 times (5 A?) more I think. Thanks again!

I took off every panel thinking I could find the wires on my own, then 4 minutes in to watching your video you point them out. Oh well, I know my bike a little better now. I wired a single 3" round spot light on the fender between the fork tubes. Fits real nice and I like having a beam that follows the steering.

Nice bike and great lights frendo! Shoutout to Twiggers in Loughborough (UK) who are currently putting the D4's on my Stelvio NTX after being in a box under my desk for a year while trying to figure out how to unstick a spinning captive nut holding the tank on. Likewise I thought 'how hard can it be to get the dimmable function working through dipped/mainbeam switch' but according to my dude doing the install, the dash had a fit and was pulsing wildly when attempting to run them the way the provided 'generic' loom is supposed to work. Solution for me is that I have to manually switch them on/off too with the original AUX LIGHTS switch. Real tidy install and nice to see the innards on the v85s front cubby, thanks for taking the time sir!

great video. I also live quite a ways from a larger center and find myself riding in the morning in the dark.. therefore fog/driving lights. I've got a pair of LEDs that I move from one bike to another as I change bikes. Upon installation I always wire them into the highbeam. It's not illegal to run fog/driving lights with the highbeam ..... because your highbeam is usually brighter than the fogs. Also.. the fog/driving lights that come stock on the Harley's can be made to stay on all the time the lights are on, high or low beam, (but this is done through the Harley mechanic and the computer must be flashed) Once again, thx for the video

Excellent video, as usual. I went with the Denali version. They make three different sizes, I went with the smallest only because I live in NYC and using ultra bright driving lights blinds other drivers and drives people nuts. However, if you live in dark urban areas, the next size up is probably a better choice. They are certainly brighter than stock and slightly smaller making them practically invisible. GIVI is another expensive option, I haven't met anybody who has them installed to compare. Compared to other brands, Denali is expensive. However, the quality is far superior, the wires, connectors, housing and lenses are top quality. Of course, quality doesn't come cheap, if you want to save money there are plenty of lights made of Chinesium but.....you get what you pay for....everybody knows that.

Great video, I am about to do the same and use Denali D2 pods. One question on the wiring though: why would Guzzi put a relay in their harness? Wouldn't it be wise to sue a relay for this installation of the Denalis too?

Great and very inspirational video. Thank you for your efforts. Couple of questions if I May.. Did you remove the factory fog lights? (That were on your work table) Do the lights connected to the factory plug operate via the factory on/off switch that is already on the bike? Finally a comment: the Denali Dr1 that you installed on your bike is a pure spot beam (10 değere i guess) type light. They are for long distance and should be used together with high beam. Although the use of factory switch and plug is practical, it would be better to bond them to the high beam via Denali harness. Also, installing these spot type lights to the fork tubes will not be helpfull in your turns due to narrow beam pattern. You should perpaps use Denali's wide beam lenses, that are supplied in the kit instead of these clear spot lenses. Anynway, Just some thoughts. Thank you again for the video. Ride safe and cheers.
@cubbysue
@cubbysue Жыл бұрын
The factory foglights you saw on the bench were purchased to go on the bike, but I didn't like them and bought the Denali lights as well. They are hooked directly to the factory harness and the utilize the factory headlight switch to turn them on and off. They do stay on with the high beams, which I like. I do have the wide lenses and will eventually try them out. Right now, the spots are pointed to the sides of the road and are still very helpful when I'm up here on the mountain. Thanks for watching. Ride safe.

@@cubbysue Thanks for the reply. One more question please: the factory socket has 3 wires (+, - and signal). So does the Denali light pod. If I want to hook a conventional 2-wire light pod, would it be ok to leave the signal wire of the pre installed harness empty/unconnected? Or more importantly would the factory fog light switch work in this setup? (I will use 2 amp x 2 lights to stay within fuse limits) thanks.
@cubbysue
@cubbysue Жыл бұрын
I used the signal as the power for the lights and left the hot wire in the plug unused. If you use a relay, that would be your 12volt supply. The Denali lights are low enough amperage that they are hooked directly to the factory switch.

In the Uk .... I have no idea about elsewhere .... when it is foggy or there is a risk of fog ( which is up to the driver to decide , but the police may disagree !) you may turn on your front facing fog lights if they are fitted ( the rear facing red warning fog lights , or single light , must to be fitted to vehicles made after a certain date ) . The front fog lights have to be switched off automatically when high beam is selected ; the logic being that if it is actually foggy then you cannot use high beam because you would be blinding yourself . With spot ( or driving lamps ) though the switching is reversed ! With spots the switching off has to be when the dip beam is selected . I assume this is so that the spots do not blind on coming traffic , which would also be lighting up the road with their light(s) with their dipped beam for you . If you are driving out in the wilds I don't think these rules really matter , but in mostly congested UK it does ! For those city drivers who don't often get to use their high beam I have a suggestion for when they get out of town on holiday or whatever .... dip your high beam and then select high again and then dip again when you approach any country lane corner .... this causes a noticeable flash of light around the corner and the trees , whatever , nearby the corner to warn on coming traffic . If you see the warning flashes ahead of you flash your own lights too and be ready to dip your lights before blinding oncomers ! Thanks in advance ! I am loving your videos . Thank you . All being good I am looking to buy a Guzzi , but I am not sure I want a bike with a Cat fitted in the exhaust ! I am too old school maybe . I do like electronic ignition , ABS is ok , but my only means of tuning the fueling is by a data download , meh ! A proper tune up to me means going to a rolling road dyno owning techy with your bike or car fitted with your choice of exhaust etc . Every engine is slightly different .... these data downloads are made for a average engine . Maybe I am wrong , what do you think ( I know the govts force this situation , but I could buy an older carb fuelled machine possibly) Lol
