Sometimes there are "miracles".. ran my 840 into a rock at pretty good speed, the wingtip took most of the impact but only about 2mm of the leading edge needed epoxy buildup! at the impact i thought for sure i had lost the entire foil

How long is that board being used in this video.

Thank you for your high-quality video. The F-One foil looks like a very high-performing foil, and even is very stylish / nice color. Good to know that the conditions dictate the best foil to use. I am confused about the difference between SUP surfing with a foil, and "prone surfing" with a foil: I thought that all riders of foils (not using a wind or sail) need to use a paddle, otherwise - how do they get out? Does "prone surfing" on a foil just mean that you pump for speed and don't use a paddle, and find another way to get out (tow in, pump using bungee cord launch from dock), or do you lie prone on the foil and paddle with your hands similar to regular prone surfing?

Thanks for comment. Basically if you are SUP Foiling or Surf Foiling you do the same things as if you were without the foil. In regular surf foil you paddle with your arms to the outside and to catch waves. Once you get more experienced you'll pump the foil between waves connecting them without the need to paddle. You can also tow in as regular surfers do.

@@FOnePortugal Thanks for your reply! I thought maybe the board is too small to pop up from, but I see that it's not all that different from popping up from an extremely short shortboard. Thanks again!

This is a nicely done video, thank you for making it. For wing foiling, would you ever prefer the Gravity over the Phantom for riding waves? Or is the Phantom the foil of choice as long as the rider has sufficient skill? I should know the answer to these questions because I own both the Gravity 1500 and Phantom 1480. At this stage in my wing surfing level, I'm free riding and have just started switching my feet consistently after jibing. My impression so far is that I like both. I can feel the longer glide of the Phantom but otherwise I find the foils both really fun. I'm almost good enough to try some waves but haven't yet. Thanks for any thoughts on which is the better foil to begin my wave riding.

Hello Michael. Thanks for the compliment. Vasco here (from the video). With the wing i suggest the phantom because it is faster, and with the wing it is nice to go faster with, our without your will :) i like both, the Gravity and the Phantom. But they have different speeds. On the gravity, take of speed is slower and Max speed is inferior than the Phantom. The phantom takes off later, but handles more speed. And basically the sweet spot for turning in termos of speed it is also slower on the Gravity, and a bit faster on the Phantom. Hope this was clear. Have a great day!

Hi Vasco! Nice video!! Do you think 1280 would be enough to use it in 12 -14 kts with the wing? My weight is 77 kg and I use a 6m wing. My board is 70 liters.

Hello Miguel! Based on the info you gave me, Is possible but not ideal for the beginning. The setup you referred it is ideal for an advanced stage. Thanks for the compliments 🙌🏼

What is a high aspect wing?
@FOnePortugal3 жыл бұрын
A high aspect ratio indicates long, narrow wings. Basically they are more efficient in flight, but will require more ability from the rider.

Great video. I Own the 1480 and it is a great Allrounder for surf and wing! Even in the lightest winds I manage to get up on foil (70kg). I wonder if I get the 940 (for winging) as second wing. What do you think Vasco? The difference between 1480 and 1080 in terms of speed is not as big as I thought!
@FOnePortugal3 жыл бұрын
HI, I'm João, at the moment Vasco is travelling. In my opinion if you're already an experienced wing foiler, the 940 will definetely upgrade your speed, and also will be a better option to surf bigger waves.

Hi, appreciate your going over these wings in a variety of conditions. How much do you weigh?

Hello Vasco, great video ! I'm looking for a foil to wingfoil from 12-15 knots (I have a 5m wing) and to surf foil in small waves (around 50-70cm). I weigh a bit less than 70kg and I've been foiling in kite for a few years. I am hesitating between the 1280 and the 1480. What would you recommend ?
@njgoodchild3 жыл бұрын
Maybe i can help. I weigh 90kg and have 1780 and 1480. I use the 1780 in 12 to 15 knots. For your weight i would say you would need 1480 as 1280 would be a bit small for you for that light wind. I’d say the 1480 would also work for you in very small waves surfing. Hope that helps!

Hi Sebastien, sorry, but Vasco is travelling at the moment. As you probably saw on the video 1480 is definitely the best all rounder. For wing you might want 1280 when you develop your skills, but for that range of wind 1480 will be an easier option. Cheers

Hello Vasco. Thanks for your video! What size of mast do you use for the surf foil in particular with the 1480? 65cm ? 75cm ? more ? Thanks a lot
@VascoMSantos3 жыл бұрын
Hey! I use the 65 90% of the time just because I surf on many rocky beaches, and in low tide it helps a lot... for trying airs it is much safer also! But my favorite it is the 75, it allows more speed/it is more forgiving to weight distribution mistakes! Cheers

Hi, What is your weight please? I’m 95KG and I just tried a 1780 phantom (compared with my Gravity 2200 and 1800) I didn’t find much difference in speed (although I was using a long fuselage and the c300 stab from my Gravity foils). It seemed slightly more stable in the turn, slightly more glide but slightly harder to get on foil with a faster ‘bite’ lift. I’m not sure the difference was enough to justify changing? Would a shorter fuselage and stab make a big difference? Am I missing something? I’m not sure why I was told to get Gravity as a beginner, the phantom was very very similar I thought?

Very nice video, Vasco, well done! I have a question, I am foiling behind a boat: a leisure boat, not a mastercraft boat that makes big waves you can surf. I have a slingshot 76, 1500cm2, aspect ratio 3.8 and I can almost surf behind the boat without the rope on small waves. I am considering moving to f-one and the dilemma is which is best: phantom 1780 or gravity 2200? I am 86kg. I am not into pump foiling on flat water or dock starting, just enjoying foiling without a rope behind a leisure boat that makes small waves. Any advice?
@armadillock13204 жыл бұрын
In essence, it is better a higher aspect ratio and lower surface with the Phantom 1780, or lower aspect ratio but higher surface with the Gravity 2200? I wish I could try both to make up my mind
@VascoMSantos4 жыл бұрын
Hello! I suggest the Phantom 1480 or the 1780 because they are faster than the Gravity and the boat can go a bit faster than a normal wave. I am 84 kg right now and love the 1480 behind the boat. It turns better than the 1780. The main advantage of the 1780 is the pump. But you will not need much because you are behind the boat. Thanks for the compliments 👍
