This is my favorite folding theorbo so far. The folding system looks effective and unobtrusive. One question, though. Is there a reason for the string holder to be removable? It looks like it would be convenient to simply leave it on the instrument.

Thanks. I made it removable because I wanted to minimize visual impact. Also since the string holder has to rotate freely, I figured it might be annoying if left on.

I think I understand that. But the string holder does look very nice. You have a good eye for details.

Having the F String stopped on the Short neck makes it easier to change keys.

Does the fact that it's foldable any harm to the soundboard due to the change of overall string tension?

My current design folds backwards and does not change the string tension, except perhaps momentarily.
