what if you don't have a centimeter ruler?This video is awesome, I will be going back as soon as I make some jelly prints. woot woot I love the box's as well.
@YasutomoArtOrigami6 ай бұрын
Hi! The conversion is to take the centimeter number and divide it by 2.54 to get the inches. For example, to find out the conversion of 15 cm to inches, you do 15 / 2.54 = 5.9, or about 6 inches. You can also Google the conversion (which is what I do on the fly!) Hope this helps 😊

You could buy one, rulers are cheap enough.

LOvE Art Glitter glue too. Remind folks that they do need to use a good stainless steel pin in their glue applicators as cheap pins will rust. The one that comes with the 'kit' is great.

I'm confused as to what paper to use for the text block to be able to watercolor on the pages later. I tried Rice paper and Zinc paper, both too thin.
@YasutomoArtOrigami5 ай бұрын
Hi Sydney! If you want to watercolor in your tiny books, you can use medium-weight sulphite paper or very lightweight watercolor paper. We hope this helps!

For the origami boxes, we used: - Top: 4 square sheets of 15 cm (or 5 7/8") square origami paper - Bottom: 4 square sheets of 15 cm (or 5 7/8") square origami paper For the books, we used: - Inside pages: 3 sheets of 4.25" x 11" paper (standard 8.5" x 11" cut in half) - Cover: 1 sheet of 4.25" x 6" decorative paper - Belly band: 1 strip of 1.5" x 6" paper For a full list of items used and sizes, you can also visit our blog post on this project: shop.yasutomo.com/blogs/projects/folded-books-and-tato-boxes Hope this helps! 😊

Paper measurements for boxes??
@YasutomoArtOrigami2 ай бұрын
The Tato boxes are made with 8 sheets of standard sized origami paper (5-7/8" square) but as long as you have 8, equal-sized square papers, you can use the same folding directions and it will work 😊 Hope this helps!

Somehow my last gold to get the corner leaves a much bigger gable at the top even as I make the last fold. My paper is the right size and I have watched and rewatched. Going to take a break and see if I can figure out where I have gone wrong. Love the project!

What size are these sheets of paper? (For those of us completely inexperienced)
@YasutomoArtOrigami2 ай бұрын
For Karen's "tall" book, she used these dimensions of paper: - Inside pages: 3 sheets of 4.25" x 11" paper (standard 8.5" x 11" sheet cut in half) - Cover: 1 sheet of 4.25" x 6" decorative paper - Belly band: 1 strip of paper cut into 1.5" x 6" You might also find it helpful to visit our blog post covering this same project. If you scroll down below the video, we listed the sizes for the original square book tutorial as well as Karen's "tall" book tutorial. shop.yasutomo.com/blogs/projects/folded-books-and-tato-boxes We hope this helps! Happy creating! 😊

I spent about 6 hours yesterday trying to make the tato box. I have "mastered" the folds but putting it all together has eluded me. It seems that I have too much "paper" when assembling the box - interior of box is puffed up paper and the bottom of the box is random flaps no matter where I push it. I'm thinking I may have missed a "fold" because my box sides are only 1 inch high. Any suggestions?
@YasutomoArtOrigami6 ай бұрын
Hi there! The interior of the box does end up a little puffy with this design. The random flaps might just need to be tucked in a certain way when assembling. This video uses a slightly different fold, but they do a nice job showing the assembly portion very clearly. If you watch their assembly and how they arrange the excess paper, it might help with the final assembly! kzbin.info/www/bejne/iZmTenuQZa92idU Hope this helps - good luck! 😊
