This tool is a must have. It makes binding joins a breeze (to include the final join), making HST's when you just need one side for compound block pairs (e.g. the other side is a multi pieced triangle), regular HST's,(but I like 8 by method for making production units). You can cut 2 ends at the same time. Lay strip flat, take the left end , hold in your index and thumb and then it toward you and then lay on top of the right end...both sides face up. (if you turn it the other way, you'll have the wrong angle on the left end). To make the final join on your binding, this tool gets rid of all the bulk of trying to miter two square ends. Measure tje overlap of the two ends as the size of your full binding width, and cut it just a smidge short (1/4" or less). With the quilt toward you and the binding away from you lay the left side open facing right. Take the right side (which is facing left naturally) and make a right u-turn with it (facing up and open). Lay left on top of right and cut as you would your binding. Cutting a smidge short (1/4" or less), allows the binding to lay snug and flat without being overly tight. Join as you would your binding, making sure that the right hand side is untwisted. So much less bulk, and it is a perfect join every time.
