Folk Art: "Making a Sami-Inspired 3-Braid Bracelet, Part 1," Norma Refsal (grades 9-12)

The Sami are the Indigenous people of the circumpolar regions of Norway, Sweden, Finland and the Kola Peninsula of Russia. This project uses traditional Sami materials of reindeer leather, pewter thread and a reindeer antler button to make a very wearable, unique and lovely bracelet. Each bracelet is made to the wrist size of the maker. It requires ability to sew with two types of needles using a very fine thread. The work is very close and requires good lighting.
