I never ever want my poet to escape and let wisteria grow. Out of all albums i really wanted a midnight companion months ago when i was studying alone in nights...noone to stay awake for me nor sit beside to sip coffee together but i do have a pic of Taylor on my wall..and just few days ago Taylor surprised like she did hear and understand my thoughts and the album called Midnights. I love the videos that are made in this beautiful little studio. The ones where you are making the song, when they just vibe together (even the sad ones), her vocals, and singing them all- and of course these small snippets of information. There are a number of unreleased songs as singles (on albums or remixes or vault tracks), that sound similar to each other, but it's not plagiarism of anyone except herself! This and Evermore, with the folk and country angle and the stripped down songs are hitting me so hard. X

@@orangesheep7094 that song is very clearly about scott borchetta and i don't think they had a romantic connection lol. there's no lyrical evidence to support the song is about anyone else whereas there are so many lyrics that are directly related to scott/references to things he's said about taylor in the past ("you wear the same jewels that i gave you as you bury me", "when i'd fight you used to tell me i was brave", "i can go anywhere i want, anywhere i want, just not home", "when you can't sleep at night you hear my stolen lullabies", "you had to kill me but it killed you just the same", "you turned into your worst fears", "crossing out the good years") also, friendship breakups are a lot like divorces. "having that person they swore to be with forever, then becoming the person they spend most of their time talking shit about" applies so much to platonic breakups. taylor also didn't say she wrote this song while thinking about divorce, she just said it reminded her of people going through a divorce. songs can remind you of things without those things being directly related to the song not to mention her parents are divorced and her bsf had just gotten a divorce so maybe that's why it reminded her of that.

I could be wrong. But now that I have heard new All too well 10 min version I believe the song "The 1" in Folklore is about Jake. There are so many Easter eggs that I could count. Here are few. When she says "if you wanted me you should have showed". Does that refers to her 21 birthday that Jake did not show up and made her the final break up decision and rejected his sorry and return?! and said "No". in the song she says "is better say yes than No". She talks about "film never made" , Jake was/Is a famous actor. She says in the song "The greatest love of all time" and she publicly and recently mentioned the only deep real love that also hurt her was in RED (with Jake, implicitly of course). Then saying "Roaring in 20's" Both were in their 20, she was 21 and Jake 29. Then she says about lover's new "Adventure", Jake during 2019 had his big shot in Spider man part of Marvel Adventures and he also got a new (current) girl friend at the time after long time of not dating. She also talks about "digging the grave" again which is exact word she used in All too well 10 min version. The only other possible other person would have been Harry Style. Still not the same inflaming love like she had with Jake and also Style last few years explicitly talked about ambiguity in his sexuality which Taylor for sure heard. So I am convinced that "The 1" is about Jake

But also Taylor's own word in Folklore documentary for "the One" was "updating a former lover" and a lot of people suggested that is Harry Style which is obviously not correct and that is why I mentioned all the clues that points to Jake. I am still convinced the song is about Jake, with song having a sense of sad "What If" feeling, what if she responded differently to the former lover? (Jake request to getting back together after initial breakup?!). In the end of song she says "if one thing would be different...would it be everything different...today? That for me is a clear nostalgic second thought of ones previous decision which for sure I experienced myself. But then still it is a smart move for her to distance herself publicly about specific person specially when you are in another relationship. In the end, the clues are too specific that could not be ignored and I even noticed couple of other song with clear references of Taylor expressing her regret of some harsh word for some former ex but I will skip those as for me "The One" is too clear and specific to be mistaken with anything else. Any way "the One" is a very beautiful and masterful song whatever anyone decide to conclude.
