Thank you so much for putting this together. Wow - this is amazing. The "lost" footage everyone hopes they could see. All of these videos from the original production are such a treasure. Thank you for this!

This reminds me of the early talking musicals, shot in two color Technicolor. Beautiful.

So much more exciting and elegant than that one-set rose used in the last big revival that was a let down.

This sequence makes everything n Broadway -except the visuals in PHANTOM -look like community theater.

To add: this show did "irony" and "deconstruction" almost 20 years before the concept seems to have been invented and it has never been done better or more creatively by any show. Sondheim's pastiche lyrics and tunes - (he was able to tell you which composer and lyricists he was mimicking for each song), a.k.a. his "fakes" - are still five times better than much of what is written for the stage. One act. No big closing production number to bring people back. A bitter theme. Unbelievable.

I like how at 1:34 the footage seems to change from b&w to color, like in The Wizard of Oz. Metaphorically, that's what Aronson's set did when the Loveland sets flew in.

To call Follies 'legendary' now seems a lazy gesture made by those who ride on the coat tails of the many who call everything "awesome" and "epic". Legendary? Of course!!! But what seems to be taken for granted and is understood only by a smaller set - you fans who respond here (and demonstrated by this fantastic clip) is the massive volume of talent involved in the original: Sondheim, Goldman, Prince, Bennett, Tunick, Aronson, Klotz, Musser, et al. - even Byrd's poster is THE icon of Broadway.

I HAVE THE BYRD 'FOLLIES' POSTER, FRAMED BY TRITON GALLERIES....THE UNIQUE POSTER 'WITHOUT CREDITS' ON IT, JUST THE ARTWORK. IT IS THE CENTER PIECE OF ALL I HAVE HANGING ON MY LIVING ROOM WALLS, INCLUDING A CUSTOM MADE-ON-CANVAS GORGEOUS 20x30 CLOSE-UP OF THE LAST OF THE SHOWGIRLS TO ENTER....WITH THE BELLO TWO FOOT HEADDRESS STICKING STRAIGHT UP. I WISH I COULD INCLUDE PICTURES OF BOTH. I'D PART WITH THE TRITON FRAMED POSTER FOR $1,500 IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED. IN 1971, I PAID 40% OF MY WEEKLY GROSS SALARY AT THE TIME FOR THIS MASTERPIECE OF THEATRICAL HISTORY. LIVE, LOVE, LAUGH....
