George was an integral part of getting Christian the lion back into the wild after growing up in London. It’s a wonderful story and George was a very noble man!

Thank you for this upload, I read "Born Free" as a young child and watched the movie with my classmates. George was amazing! I wish the African nation would put sanctions against poaching and establish reserves against mankind encroachment, Mankind is the worst!

Wow...This was definitely my most favorite story of Baba Wa Simba, We visited Elsa's grave last year and it was super emotional and never to be forgotten moment. The short video is on our channel for those interested. Boldy and Bugsy are part of the story that i just learned from this presentation. Asante sana for sharing. And for Paul my rafiki from Australia, remember we still have to do our Kora Expedition and visit Kampi ya Simba 🐾🐾🐾

The cook who was killed was named Stanley. He was killed by "Boy", one of the lions featured in the movie adaptation of "Born Free". This was during the time when George was helping acclimate "Christian" who was purchased at Harrods. His two owners brought him to George's compound to be released.

31:30 when George seeks out Elsa's 25 year old grave. Elsa passed on 1961, so the documentary must be around 1986.

Well, be that as it may, there has been debate as to whether Elsa died from a feline malarial disease or tick fever.

Watching KZbin it seems like a lot of people have big cats in captivity but in the wild they have been in steady decline for a long time

Really unfortunate poachers aren't being cleared as targets for trophy hunting...

I have known all along that the so called “lion sanctuary” was self serving. And I don’t have any wildlife experience. Please tell Carole Baskin from Big Cat Rescue to watch this film. If I thought it would make a difference I would hand it to her personally. Yet, something tells me it would not since the sanctuary is a money making endeavor. For shame that man is wildlife’s greatest threat. Both on land and in the ocean 😢

Good luck with that. I can't imagine someone like Elon Musk giving up some of his lavish living.
