''FOLLOW ME'' EYES 3-WAYS for SMART DOLL & BJD
Hello! Follow me eyes have fascinated me so much ever since I found out about them! For the price of one or two sets online you can probably get all the supplies needed to make a bunch of your own.
I'll show you a two ways to make the eyes in various difficulties and based on the items you have at home! We make hand drawn eyes, digitized designs, and two ways to set the eyes onto the glass cabochons.
1. Handrawn Eyes set with mod podge
2. Digitized Printed Eyes set with modgepodge
3. Laminated, Digitized Printed Eyes set with UV Resin
MATERIALS :
- Paper
- Colored pencils
- Glass cabochons(0.79 inch/20mm)
- Shiny Mod podge
OPTIONAL :
- Laminator
- Lamination sheets
- Uv set resin
- Uv light

So what makes them move is it because it’s digitalized or is it special paper?? Because I make my own eyes but they don’t move . Is that because the iris is indented in the clay is why they don’t move??

The glass cabochons warp the light reflected so the eyes appear to look in your direction from whatever angle you look at them. I don’t know the exact science but that’s kinda the jist! Hope it helps!

What UV resin and light do you suggest for a beginner?

Honestly I’m such a beginner too! This was my first and only project using UV resin since! For the resin I just made sure to get a brand that had UV in the title. For the UV lamp, I just chose the cheapest one lol. Nothing special!

When laminated, Uv resin really stick on it ? Most laminate sheet ,I don’t know what it’s it (plastic?) will it stick with uv resin or depend on what kind?

It worked great in my opinion. It’s not permanent unless you want it to stay on there. It will stay on unless you start to peel off the laminated part yourself. As to other brands of laminated sheets I really can’t confirm if they’ll work without trying them out so I can’t really confirm if they’ll all work but from my experience it should! I didn’t really choose any specific laminated sheet so most should work :)

@@Joesewz thank for your reply. I just ordered Scotch laminator machine and it comes w 2 pack stater. I hope the sheet will work well 🥺🥺.. I kinda like the idea that fast cured stick. Because I know if use clear glue or something else , it might form bubbles later 😞

@@Joesewz after I laminated it did stick to uv resin ,but It kinda low strong bond, used my finger peel it out easily, then I tried print the eyes with photo paper ( 135 gms) pretty thin one side,but have just lil gloss layer itself and used uv resin directly without laminate, the bonding between the glass and photo paper is stronger! I tried peel it out hardly, but the print photo teared ruined. That what I want to see,need some pamarnet sticked and secured. 👍✨.. Anw, what side of glass caboncho use for your smart doll? Will 20mm fits perfectly? Anw, I kinda new for crafty,what glue u would recommend to stick paper with metal? :(

Yup I use the 20mm ones ! I only tried those on my anime eye sculpts but I’m sure theyll work for semi real and narrow eyes. You just have to resize the pupil and adjust accordingly. I would recommend using e600 glue for crafting works wonders for me !
