Faithful LDS member here.. I Just posted my first ex-mo reddit response to a simple question.. about if members are required to serve missions.. especially since the Prophet never went on one, I gave a positive response to the church, the prophet, how policies/expectations have changed over time and personal family experiences of some that did not serve a mission.. but faithful ect.... less than 12 hours and it was taken down. I didn't understand why.. as I was respectful and had followed the guidelines and was sharing good positive experiences from my own life. .... now watching this.. I understand.. only anti-Mormon responses are allowed.

I have never responded nor participated in any ex-Mo forums. Twenty years ago, shortly after my mission, I discovered an online religious forum that seemed like an interesting place to exchange religious beliefs and ideas. I was wrong. It was filled with the most vile, deceptive, and bigoted people imaginable. There were several bishops and stake presidency members that attempted to reach those who had legitimate questions, but their posts were quickly drowned out by those who could not allow positive and supportive statements of our religion. I learned a number of lessons through that forum and a few others in the intervening years: Those who live in a world of hatred are clearly those who serve the Adversary; those who leave the Church will never be capable of leaving it alone; and those who choose to criticize and attack are the very same who lack the ability and cognition to build and create, thus they only seek to destroy. It is best to fight the adversary through deed and strategic word. Online forums are almost entirely populated by the degenerate class.

Got to the temple long enough and with the right frame of mind, and you will be transformed! I highly recommend weekly, biweekly, or triweekly--as often as you can. I also recognize many can’t due to several factors, but my point is, just go, make a sacrifice of time and money for babysitters if needed, and see what God will make of you; see what you will learn and become! It brings progression in this life like nothing else!

Ex Mormon here, I think it's a bit of a swing reaction. It happens in a lot of ways in the microcosm of the individual and the macrocosm of society In the microcosm of the individual I think it begins as being unrestrained by the rules of the church, some throw themselves off the deep end of trying new things, single people might get more promiscuous. You might want to try all the coffee and alcohol. I don't think most people spend long here but some do stay longer than others. They quickly realise that they don't have to be constantly drinking alcohol just because they couldn't before and end up settling somewhere more healthy. The pendulum swings from one side to the other and then settles in the middle. The LGBTQ issue is a good examplenif.the macrocosm. Decades ago you were imprisoned and chemically castrated for being homosexual and attitudes have shifted since then but seem to have overshot tolerance and acceptance into activism and dogma on the other side. I have a few gay friends who think similarly, they don't understand what the fuss is about with pride and everyone having to virtue signal about it. They're just gay and want to be treated the same as anyone who is straight and for the most part they are. I have confidence that a lot of these issues will eventually settle into the middle path after they are done swinging the other way.

The ex-bishop doesn’t get it. If he wants to walk away, fine. But to use the pulpit for his personal opinions is just as bad as anybody in major league sports/Hollywood, using the microphone to voice their opinion to brainwash the rest of us- thinking that we actually care. He went about things completely inappropriately and disrespectfully: to himself, his family, his congregation, and the church in general. It’s so sad and SUPER weak.

I got to the top and it felt like I needed a little bit of a boost on the gas to get to the top, so I gave what felt like a little bit of gas but it was too much and my decision flipped my 4-wheeler causing me to fall backwards about 8-10 feet with a 600 lb 4 wheeler landing directly on my face. It crushed my helmet like a watermelon and then rolled over the top of me. I felt like I had been on top of that boulder before going that particular route. I simply shared my personal experience that everyone I know who bounced, eventually ended up divorced and not as happy as before. This is why so many EXMOs share on exmo Reddit how “traumatizing” it was. When a Muslim becomes Christian and their whole family wants them dead, if they are in some countries the lives of their family are threatened… they do not cry victimhood, cry about not getting invited to the mosque… they simply share a heartfelt testimony of the joy they have now accepting Jesus into their lives. @coryhorton5837 Agreed. A very valid point you’re making is that many thousands of tithe-paying, fully active members are there, not because they believe in the truth claims, but because they feel loved by the community. That’s true of any religion, tbh. That’s the one thing religion officers that’s actually hard to replace: community. (Doctrine and beliefs are actually pretty easily replaceable by new beliefs.) Once the community is unsupportive, or sometimes even flat-out malevolent, it’s easier to leave. People who dismiss your comment are basically saying, “Fine. There’s the door!” not realizing that if everybody feeling similarly took them up on that ultimatum, attendance would probably drop by half.

I know Satan attacks Bishops and their families hard, but to fall this hard and so quickly…is mind blowing and a reminder of the importance of staying in the temple.

You see the "happy family" now but my stats show most progress to divorce and addiction and severely broken families. My heart goes out to him as everyone who is in faith crisis, such a painful place. Unless he is leaving the church to be a part of something else, it usually ends with broken relationships. But from what I am hearing (sunday-funday) there is nothing saying "I want my family to have a stronger relationship with Jesus" so my heart aches for both him and his family. Keep up the fun content. Perhaps when I attend a livestream, I'll get my records read into the ward. Until then, I'll just keep quietly doing my calling. :)

@@scottballard6176 you’re probably a pretty nice guy, but I can’t believe how damn naïve you are. If something horrible happened to you, like your mother or sister being raped, the last thing you would tolerate is someone judging you for how you react or how you feel. Saying things like “they had it coming“, or “she led him on“, or whatever, and the fact is that Nick Jones was sexually abused by his LDS Sunday school teacher when he was nine years old. Later on when he was called to be a bishop he started to realize the horrible way the church handles things. The church protects predators and blames their horrible crimes on their innocent victims. Bishops want to talk about sexual acts in detail and even talk to people about masturbation when they should clearly mind their own damn business. You really should go watch his story, it’s very interesting. The straw that broke the camels back was a 78 year old man who is being forced to apologize to his wife before his blessings could be restored. This is just another bullshit move by the LDS church. It’s not how Jesus Christ would do things, it’s how common men who make many mistakes would do things. And this good man that you are poking fun at did not want his video to go viral. He simply wanted to talk to his ward and explain that he had not “sinned” but that he was stepping down because there were things that he could no longer participate in. It was very honest, it was very humble, and it was very legitimate. His brother is actually the one that posted it, but then took it down the next morning at Nick’s request when it gained so much attention. So, in a nutshell, you are doing the typical Mormon thing where you are blaming someone without knowing the full story. It’s very typical in the church, not to mention very egotistical. My advice to you is to never tell a half truth, because you are very prone to telling the wrong half.

Looking back, I wish I would have had the chance to explain why I resigned from my calling. Instead I stepped away quietly. That's when the rumors started to float around the neighborhood of affairs or some major sin. It was noneof those. I have lived in the same home for almost 30 years. I'm often sitting on my porch when ward member walk by. I say hello amd rarely get response. You all should try and show a little compassion for someone struggling with their faith. Including compassion for this man and his family. Stepping away isn't easy. For myself, I'm still the same person I was before. I love my neighbors and I love the members of the ward. I just have different beliefs now. I wonder if I would have resigned like he did, would my neighbors be a little less judgmental? Hard to say. I will continue to be kind. In 2023, as long as the labia and nipples aren’t out and the outline of the man’s member aren’t poking through is considered modest, right? We’re supposed to be, as men and women, a help meat one for another and not enemies. We could all be more caring and less selfish but even that’s asking too much in a godless 2023 world, right? Modesty: Reserve or propriety in speech, dress, or behavior.
