I bought the game on release (2002?) and played it a bit against AI, then I watched it quite a while, when Grubby was competitive. In 2021 I bought Reforged but at this day, I still never played this game against other players :D

Maybe some general pointers: - The most basic rule is this: Every Hero in the game has a "main attribute" (you can look it up in the Description at the Altar/Tavern or hover your mouse over the Attribute-Icon). Each point in the main attribute of a hero boosts their damage. So if you have no clue whatsoever who to give an item, base it on this. - You want Damage-Items (like Claws) on Range-Heroes, not on Strength-Heroes. Lich is the best example for this with the Orb of Corruption. Deathknight and Dreadlord will run around a lot and don't get off much auto-attacks, so it is useless to buff their attacks. Lich however, as a range-hero, can auto-attack pretty good. - Demon-Hunter and Blademaster are Autoattack-Monsters, so you want to give them everything that makes their attacks even bigger. Claws, Circlets, Gloves of Haste and of course anything that improves Agility (Boots of Quel'Thalas and Claws+12 being the two big ones here) - Anything related to Intelligence should be on your casters, since Intelligence boosts your Mana in multiple ways. A Demonhunter who can cast more Manaburn is nice, but obviously you rather want more Entangles and Force of Natures from your Keeper. Doesn't mean "Intelligence only on Int-Heroes" though: A Deathknight with more Mana is also useful. - Auras can basically be used on whatever hero you want, except if you have a clear distinction between a "Creeping-Hero" and a "Harassing-Hero" (e.g. Blademaster is the Harasser and TC is the Creeper). In that case you want all Auras on your Creeper to give maximum benefit to your armies. Also, while not super-important, you might want to avoid stacking all Auras onto a single hero...if that Hero is gone, so are your Auras. Lastly, even if it feels bad sometimes: If you can't use an Aura, don't keep it just because it is an Aura. Sell it. - Armor is a bit hard to give general advise for. I personally bunker my Rings of Protection on my casters, but it makes as much sense to put them on your frontliners. As a general rule of thumb: Especially for Heroes like DH and BM Damage is more useful than Armor, so don't keep a Ring of Protection over something like Claws. I think that covers most of the basics for items. Hope it helped (and wasn't too basic either ._.)

Isnt catapult a good counter to Dryads + Archers? I mean, all they do is kite you but you cannot kite a Catapult. Your only problem would be to keep it safe.

I am wondering what Grubby thinks about this and if he would give it a try for a YT vid (probably as Melon) : The blademaster has his stealth ability, which does even extra damage on the first hit comming out of it. What if the ONLY thing you do with the blademaster, is to stealth to the enemy hero and try to steal the last hit of EVERY monster the enemy hero tries to clear at that moment. Wouldn't that create quite a big unbalance to your advantage, as the enemy hero takes damage for trying to clear the camp but never the EXP, while you get all the EXP, money and keep your own health? :D Oh and in the meanwhile you create an army to either annoy the enemy base or to clear all other so far uncleared monster camps, to can an even bigger EXP advantage.

people have been doing that since 2002. since TFT there's been dust readily available for people to buy and use, and recently blade got nerfed where WW has 2 second cd, but i guess if he's very persistent with the WW creep jack strat, the opponent will either spend lots of cash on dust and constantly look over his shoulders or get his creeps stolen a lot

Maaan that was hard to watch from 7:40 - 8:40. Just a full minute of blade getting distracted by 2 archers and then forgotten about while NE kills entire army including shadow for free. Then blade comes back and gets owned because he's alone.

20 years playin this game and still Grubby cant admit he doesnt know everything about the game. His stupid moonwell nerf ideas were completely OFF and out of sheer whine. He doesnt play Elf and when he does its pretty bad, he only wins games due to superior mechanics compared to lower mmr guys he plays with his Elf (compared to his orc). Still he thinks he is always right. He pretends to be Mr Nice guy but is arrogant and FAKE.

I was thinking the same for a long time until I asked a friend who played a lot of RTS and he actually explained to me that it puts you in a good rythm for the game. If you only clic once every few seconds at the start of the game, your hands will not be in the rythm to go fast later in the game, kinda like when sports players warm up before a game.
