I remember reading the original WC3 online guide back in the day. There was a screenshot of 3 peons walking across the map under the section "Offensive Towering", with the statement "orcs are more likely than any other race to offensive tower. If you ever see a group of peons like this, odds are they're up to no good".

Using Siege: "ORC TOWERS SHOOT FARTHER THAN YOURS, BEWARE. They also build very fast, which is kind of messed up. If an Orc is annoying you early on for no reason, suspect towering."

Funny thing was , he was not locked - 2 free exits. Just counteratack and digin in the main base. Thats how you counter this.

@@packadog7509 APM etc is not mod. It's in game command either /apm or -apm i don't remember which. Similarly type ping and fps with the symbols

I remember doing something akin to this with undead towers way back in highschool during a lan contest hosted by the computer class teacher, with the prize being a 20$ coupon, and the funniest is I didn't even really want to join nor cared enough to win, I just did it out of the blue, managed to drag on the fight for so long the teacher had to call it a ''draw'' and claim the victor by the amount of points generated, and by sheer luck I actually won by a few hundred points. Boy was that high ego nerd who gloated about being the best at the game genuinely livid, one of the only good memories I have of highschool.

I did something similar in a Warcraft 2 match in the late 90s. But I built 9 towers surrounding the town hall and then waited until I had enough resources to upgrade them all to cannon towers in one go so my opponent wouldn't get attack notifications until they were all well underway. Decimated his town. We were both human so he didn't notice the color difference in the buildings.

I used to have an 80% winrate with this on the old Punder Isle. Vs Human and Undead I'd have to change it up a bit though, human I'd try to hide them and go spikes.

Grubby you're a such a god. You had a big role in my life when I was a kid by being the best orc player and first pro I watched... I wished I was as good as you. I havent played in what feels like 15 years but just wanted to remind to let you know the level of the impact you had on many of us is even greater than one would think. switching to far seer and wolves first because I saw a pro like you do it was life changing to my childhood. The best way to stop a tower rush is to build towers of your own in the Frontline. They have same range, so your opponent won't be able to build forward. Then you get the artillery and hit safely from behind the towers.

Orc towers have more range than human towers right? So in this case it would the same as building a farm. It wouldn’t help.

Sometimes, but for the 3 peasant tower rush he was emulating, you build them right in their face, because it's too early for them to do anything about it, and that way it threatens them immediately. But it is typically done in Human vs. Night Elf

@@exetlaios3 Well, first you don't feed the enemy hero by throwing units into the wall of spikes and boost them to level 4. Second, you're probably better off sending all your units to their main base and killing all their peons. If you look back, 50% of grubby's peons were in front of the human's base. Third, building your own towers stops them from building towers.

when i played wc3 i used scorched earth tactic with the undead. slowly spreading out corruption with massive amounts of towers reducing the amount of usable land for other races more and more untill the enemy has no chance of winning left. its fun but takes forever and if the enemy finds out what youre doing early theyre almost guaranteed to rush you down.

Peon Rush is strongest on maps which have a high level monster in the center of the map. You claim the center and the experience from the monster. This allows you to stay ahead in levels for your hero and strategically limit your opponents options early on in the game.

Back in the day of Warcraft 3 Demo i used to play on multiplayer....only orcs and only far seer. Used to employ this strategy sometimes to just tower rush my opponents. Or to play only with hero, taking all tomes to make my hero powerfull and lots of items. I still love that map, Deadlock. Didnt play on it in years though.

tower rush with farseer gruntapult + a zepplin for treeline harass is devastating, especially against NE. a NE with a compromised treeline, is a leaky arse boat. especially with the burning oil upgrade. demolishers are nuts already, not to mention firing from fog of war at literal trees.

I tower rushed a lot as orc back in the day. Always build out of sight if possible so they don't know you are there until your second row of towers goes down. Also, I would build the altar and build a burrow there as well so I could bring my hero directly into the fight, and avoid target fire against peons.

Probably the best tower cheese i ever had done to me is they built.towers to annoy me and box me in, but they had 1 or 2 peons chop down trees and tbey slowly built a path to my gold mine, and they built.towers behind a treeline so i couldnt see them, then they ran some peons into my base and the towers started killing my workers. I've also seen this work with night elves
