Exactly. It's an Insurance scam. You can't have a for profit system that delivers nothing/ no benefit. These insurance companies definitely have to protect themselves. And they have to make a profit. That profit however has to diminish along with the rest of our economy. If the politicians bear some responsibility for this, then the Insurance Companies have to lobby the Politicians in order to promote policies which are good for the Insurance Industry, and good for consumers as well.

It seems to me that not many here understand how insurance works. Goal of the insurance company is not to avoid paint claims. They make their money off the investment returns from the premiums that they collect and most insurance companies pay out greater than 95% of the premium they collect back to the insured parties. In an area like California which is prone to fire, it is only sensible that companies stop providing insurance as all that will do is send premiums up for everyone and risk the liability of the business itself when there is an event like this.

These people had homes worth a minimum of 2-3 million dollars and up to 20 million dollar homes but wonder why their insurance was going to be expensive? On the flip side, every other state across the country had their auto insurance increase rates by 75-100% over the last 4 years and are still complaining they aren’t charging enough while making 13-15% profits.

Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those poor unfortunate insurance companies who were threatened with the loss of their billion dollar profits. Its unprecedented that they should be expected to lower profits as a way to make up for the payouts that they promised...simply unimaginable. Trying to find a good contractor to rebuild is not easy, most people don’t have the proper training to hire a ethical and professional contractor, looking up a licensed contractor on the CSLB website is easy, thinking that they are good because they have no violations, this is simply not enough, look up the contractor through court records and their lean history, and through background checks, even if paying some money to look them up is worth it. Make sure they have worker’s compensation as well.

My house was damage due to hurricane and insurance paid to rebuild, so i am expert on this topic. I able use the money to upgrade my home, made it bigger, chnage layout, got new evrything: new hvac, new roof, new wiring, new kitchen/ appliance. It was wonderful. They even pay for all personal property damages too, required by law, reimburse for rentals. Most home in Palisade average 4 million, one actor even said his collectible expensive book gone, chaching, big check for that. Resevoir to put out fire went EMPTY for 9 month due to a rip in bird poop cover...wow, even a 5th grader can tell this is a lie for a scam. Wo resevoir is this fire burn entire city. Also 2008 summer come to LA, need clearing lands for new builds. 240 billion damage mean 240 billion for jobs in LA builder now to 2030. SO EVERYONE WIN BIG !!! NO LOST HERE !!! EVERYONE KNOW THIS IS A CAREFULLY YEARLY PLANNED SCAM. Only loosers are everyone else in America must pay for double home insurance. Hey LA is capital of insurance scam, so this is nothing new, just done at mega scale. I have been a USAA customer for all my insurance needs to include my farm for over 50+ years. My expectation as a customer is that they will conduct business in a responsible manner that will keep them solvent to cover their customers needs. They are a business not a charity. I also chose to locate in a state that is not prone to catastrophic annual events.

USAA is garbage, and they are no different (if not worse) than every other insurance company. They very likely might not meet your expectations. I assume you are in Texas or Oklahoma and have always been there. If you've had your farm for 50 years it means you have never left that state (or settled there a long time ago). So you don't "choose to locate" anywhere. I am a Libertarian who votes Republican, and was born and raised in California and have lived here my entire life. While the Politicians here have helped to destroy this state, it was finished long ago (along with the rest of the nation). While there were always wildfires, they have become more common and more destructive. And it has nothing whatsoever to do with a non-existent fraudulent Global Warming Scam. Whether or not these fires are Arson Fires, Weather Modification, or completely natural. Mother Nature dictated always that the land had to burn. And it was good for the Earth/ Flora and Fauna.
