Great to see Hilversum, thank you. The Mattheüs passion is a classical music performants written by Johann Sebastian Bach, it's about the last days of the life of Jesus. This performants they only do around Easter.

Hilversum remains me a lot of my current hometown Zoetermeer, it has the same ambiance, only there are actually two centres in Zoetermeer, the new centrum, and the old "dorp". Apeldoorn is nice too my sister lives there and I actually went to school there.You should also consider Zwolle, as a "hanzestad" it has a great history.
@Followmytravels2 жыл бұрын
Thanks Martin, Zwolle is in my top 10 list in the Netherlands and have been there many times. We did 2 livestreams there before but in the summer i will go visit again for sure.

Hilversum is no longer as lively as 25 years ago. The Italian Restaurante Lorenza you mentioned is one of faves for many years, and the Argentina restaurant which is famous for their ribs is still good but it was way better 25 years ago . ABN AMRO same structure as I far as I could remember. Kerkbrink has changed significantly, it just used to be the museum, the kerk and an open space 25 years ago.Many new buildings have sprouted over that last 2 decades.

David from America here!!! I really enjoyed going through Hilversum. It looked more awesome than I imagined. I only knew of Hilversum from the train because it always zoomed past going to Bussum. Does Hilversum have a Media Markt to go with Hilversum Media Park???
@Followmytravels2 жыл бұрын
It is your type of city David! Modern and old architecture together, also not far away from Amsterdam :) I think there is no mediamarkt in Hilversum. :)

Hi Murat! Can you please visit Naarden one day maybe Delft as well? I know you went to Delft before but would like a refresh if possible. I havent been to Naarden and would like to go my next visit to the NL. Volendam was also a really cool village as well. Also have you considered taking trips to Germany or Belgium sense they are so close to the NL you can just take a train from Weesp
@Followmytravels2 жыл бұрын
Hi David, sure, Delft is on the list, always. in 1-2 months we ll visit. Naarden is easier, closer to me (btw we have videos from Naarden as well). This summer i would visit Belgium maybe, Germany would be in autumn or next winter.

I think Museum Hilversum is another example of a "waag", it looks like one!. And the "St. Matthew Passion" is a Passion, a well know piece of christian inspired music, by Bach. It lasts about 3 hours, and is intended to be performed at Good Friday vesper services. So its actually church music!

I've missed the last two weeks of walking. I just moved to Portland OR. I think my time difference with NL is now 8 hours earlier. Is that right?

You will see that (in the Netherlands) the church and bars go hand in hand, wherever there is a church, you will find drinking opportunities like bars and cafe's, as the Dutch in the past after going to church always went straight to the nearest cafe or bar.
@davidhutchinson17582 жыл бұрын
In Amsterdam the bars and whores are next door to the church so you can repent after you've sinned.
@martindejong39742 жыл бұрын
@@davidhutchinson1758 Actually you went to church FIRST, then afterward you went to drink something, all cities had churches surrounded by bars and cafe's. AFAIK only in Amsterdam you also had prostitutes nearby.
@davidhutchinson17582 жыл бұрын
Martin it's all sinning anyway!!!!
@martindejong39742 жыл бұрын
@@davidhutchinson1758 Only if you believe drinking coffee or beer in moderation is sinning, you must be a very hardcore religious person if you do, and most dutch are not that extreme. The cafe's around churches prove that. They were built in the same time period as the churches.
@martindejong39742 жыл бұрын
Murat, did you never hear of a "broodje kroket", a kroket it a white bun? Its a common way to eat a kroket in the Netherlands. This is just the FEBO variety, they have "stolen" the hamburger bun with a round flat kroket idea from McDonalds that had a "McKroket" for a short while.

Too many noisy petrol driven scooters in Hilversum. They ruin the peace of the place.
