The 2D was more Disney inspired but when you turn it into 3D with such direct translation is loses the similarity since their 2D and 3D styles aren't identical and it looks more like how DreamWorks does 3D.

It’s interesting how much of your 3d process translates to 2d. When you’re talking about adding detail to chunks of hair (around 14:45), that’s exactly what a lot of 2d artists do. We carve out bigger chunks and then split those forms to create detail. Same with the face.

It's really cool how the facial expression looked really creepy until you made the very subtle changes to the symmetry in the face, which then made it look much more charming and natural. I've never thought about how off-putting an entirely symmetrical expression looks.

This was honestly so therapeutic. I really feel like I needed to hear a lot of the stuff you said at the start about how creating art is a long process and that it can look really weird and bad when you start but it’s important to lay down those basic things before adding the details. And how it can be easy to expect things to be perfect really quick because of speed paints and stuff. I’ve been struggling a lot with impatience in my own process and feeling disappointed in my skills when my art doesn’t look as good as I want it to immediately, so watching this video was like a refreshing art lesson haha. Immediately subscribed, thank you!
