OKAY DETAILED SUMMARY HERE (BEWARE ITS LIKE LONG (again lmao)👹🌺✨) Thank you for watching!! Here it is!! ↓ ↓ ↓ (1/2) They were 17 now at this point, however Todd has been pining for Varian for about 2/3rds of a year now. At first he thought it was just admiration of how he liked how Varian was so determined with his life, how he was so driven and trying his hardest. Something as simple as “I wish to be like that too”. Slowly however he starts admiring a bit more of the tiny things he’s noticed about Varian. Like how he can be forgetful about needing his glasses, how he always sleeps, when he finds something new in books and wishes to try them out of curiosity, his creative ways to insult Q’s food, to the point where he would try to learn new words to add to the insults and make it ridiculously long and over complicated out of fun. The way he can never get tired of talking with him either, it came so easily. His company was something he could look forward to everyday (which was a bit extreme because he basically only hanged out with him everyday and he knew that). Todd grew aware of this however- how he realized he liked him- and that realization was something he loathed. This was practically a sinking ship and boy was he the dumbest captain ever. It was like he decided to crash into the rocky bay, not that he meant to but he was definitely steering to it. Todd was aware how Varian was not one so “lovey dovey”- he wasn’t even sure if he’s ever had a crush in his life (Todd did have some but it was more being attracted to their looks, he never really bothered to connect with them). He was aware that whatever he was feeling Vinny probably had no intention to feel the same. So his solution? To just shut up and wait for it to pass, it has before with others and it will now. And now here we are 2/3rds of a year later and it still hasn't passed. Why hasn’t it passed???? Why did it get WORSE?? Todd wasn’t sure. This was dumb, he was dumb- the worse plan ever he thought and now he’s backed himself up to a corner like an damn idiot. He was sure he was blatantly obvious too. His pupils would always dilate around the man and it sucked he couldn’t control them like how Varian could. (It’s usually the average thing to do for his kind where you gain the ability to somewhat control your eyes as you mature, Todd was a part of the small few that never got that control, compared to Varian however who gained full control at the age of 10.) His suspicion of him being obvious was confirmed when Solaris called him out for it, not directly calling him a coward but he knew she meant it that way. Her eyes were full of dare and “don’t be an idiot” but what the hell is he supposed to do?? V was his closest friend, his only friend. Practically the only one he could trust in this whole castle grounds- and he knew it was the same for Varian. After Varian woke up from his leg injury and they were put into the training programs to become soldiers, it was something they decided together. They were 11 at the time but one of his strongest memories was Varian waking him up the first night here, telling him how they shouldn’t trust the people here and they need to make a plan to be wary. These are still the same people who killed countless of their own, who were frightening and made them live in the hell that they experience, never bothering to properly help their own kind. It actually made Todd sick how they were now a part of them, on the same grounds as them but he knew that it was their only option at the time. He could sense how Varian felt the same as they grew up, he never properly talked to anyone here, not even his own mentor, just only following their instructions of how to fly properly and fight. (Todd only grew trusting with Solaris but only barely, he was still sometimes wary of her) Some of the other cadets that they were training with tried to befriend them but they both stayed clear from that. Some others were like him where they were picked up but the majority here were raised for this, morally thinking that they are in the right, excited to be a part of the higher ranks. They stayed quiet though, never opposing their ideas knowing it will only cause trouble and conflict. As they grew up they learned about the education offered here where you can earn classes to take. It was originally the plan to run away when they were older and stronger, but they decided this could change so much for their dream. Having education was rare in the lower classes, whatever you did learn was usually picked up from experience or knowing people who knew other stuff. It was very strict however and offered to a select few for some reason, but they worked their asses off to get ahold of that chance. It took them 3 years to just even gain access to (some) of the library after some of the mandatory classes (which were very grueling for them, if they didn’t learn how to read from some of the neighboring communities when they were little they would have been in trouble.) Having now access to the library they jumped at that to get whatever they could, from math to literature and a bit of science to get through more classes faster, but they were particularly interested in history books. It was hard to learn the best ways to reform a kingdom if there were little to no books about it- but from history books they would learn of ways of other regions from the past that looked like a promising way to add to their plan. Todd noticed though how there was hardly anything about their own kingdom as they went through books and books. However their plan worked as they got ahead of the classes which would later help Varian be chosen for the candidate list. But besides all that the point was they only had each other here- he couldn’t mess that up and make it awkward. He could only handle so much though- there were times he thought he’d accidentally reveal it or just spit it out. Just Varian being beside him made him flustered, he really couldn’t do this anymore. Figuratively he meant however, though his brain had other ideas on this random day when they were back at their little tree- it was a good place, one that can only get away to visit on special occasions. Todd held it dear to him and was happy he found it from long ago. But it wasn’t enjoyable as it should be when he is internally panicking from sitting just like 5 inches away from his best friend and crush- and it wasn’t like it wasn’t normal for them to be close, they were generally okay with being in close distance with each other but that changes when you develop feelings for the other, being hyper aware of everything that they were doing. Like how Varian now was using his hand to stable himself on the ground while he wrote with the other, Todd was aware of how close Varians hand was to his own- like right there- it is RIGHT THERE- He could easily just grab it or something- maybe do a dramatic confession scene like they do in some of the story books he’s read. No no that is dumb Varian would despise that. Maybe he could- “Are you okay?-” Todd was caught off guard from that- looking up to see Varian stare at him with a concerned face, why did he look like that? “-You’ve been off lately- For a bit now actually, you can tell me if something is wrong you know” Ah damn it- his pupils are slit right now aren’t they, Varian only says that if they are for a period of time- why now- please. Looking for an excuse he raised his head to give something about the work they have to do or feeling drained from sparring- his mouth thought otherwise when he realized how close he was to him- too close- again he is right there and- “I like you.” Todd says Wait no- “For a while now actually and I-” What are you doing STOP- “Okay that was a bit abrupt wasn’t it, I’m sorry but- I GUESS WE ARE DOING THIS OKAY- he frantically thinks “I really do-” he continues, “You’re just too good to not like. I mean your bed head, your laughter, your stubbornness, jokes, determination, your eyes, heart, ideas-” He stops himself thinking he just messed up, he’s just gotta get this over with, wrap it up, apologize. “I know- I know this is so sudden and abrupt and I apologize for that- Though I don’t think I could’ve kept that in any longer. I know this stuff doesn’t come easy for you either- So I understand if you can’t reciprocate, but please think about it, I can wait however long you need, V.” He didn’t mean to add that last part, maybe it was out of hope or something, but at this point he is embarrassed and nervous and wants to get out of here. Getting up he goes to unfurl his wings, but remembered to add one one last thing, he doesn’t want to ruin their friendship. “If you can’t reply I can understand that too- You will always be my best friend though so don’t worry- nothing will change I swear.” Giving one last look he turns to just get the hell out of there- he’s already done enough.

(2/2) But he was right about nothing changing- the next day it seemed that Varian didn’t have an answer, so they just acted normal, made jokes, collected more books, and talked while doing their assigned work. The next few days were similar to it to- like the confession never happened. Todd was okay with this, he really should’ve expected this but he was relieved he got it off his chest and nothing was different. - Is what he would say but he could feel how at night Varian would look at him before he slept- boy was it messing him up- did he secretly hate him? Varian was usually blunt with things so he was sure he would say something. Or maybe it was a pity look? He would die from embarrassment if it was that actually- God he hoped not. But this morning was one of their days off- however he promised Solaris to help her with some of her duties today to learn a bit more. He tried to not bother Varian (out of fear of him being mad at losing his sleep, he despised waking up at 6 am and savored their days off) while writing him a note where he would be and as he went to the west Kitchen to get food from Q, saving him a plate and heading off for the afternoon. He would join Varian later to do more of their assignments in the evening for their classes. However when he returned to their room he saw Varian's absence being replaced by a letter on his side of their desk, maybe he went to the library again- but he stared at the letter with anticipation, he was sure it was a rejection letter and Varian wanted to spare an awkward moment, which he was grateful for. He reluctantly picked it up to stare at it, giving a small huff with humor of how he brought this on to himself, a part of him almost didn’t wish to read it, to just let it go and let it be. But Varian took the time to write it so he might as well. Reluctantly opening it and taking a breath before starting to read. With each passing line however it felt like being hit with a truck- did Vinny always feel like this? When?? The hell?? What is happening- There was no way- After a minute review the middle section of the letter internally dying he finally moved to the bottom part of the letter, and his brain finally fried- short circuited, whatever the term is. He was exasperated but filled with so much excitement and joy- he put down the letter to go find Varian, to talk to him and frankly beat his ass. And that he did- he bolted towards the library assuming he would be there, his assumption was correct seeing Varian walking out with a few new books, turning to see who was running down the hall- he made eye contact but also looked a bit nervous- and that he should be as Todd tackled him to the ground to pin him down. “YOU HAD THE AUDACITY TO CONFESS THROUGH A LETTER AND NOT GIVE IT TO ME PERSONALLY??! I THOUGHT WE WERE CLOSER THAN THAT AT LEAST- HONESTLY I THOUGHT IT WAS A REJECTION LETTER AND I WOULD’VE BEEN FINE WITH THAT BUT THE FACT YOU WROTE ALL THAT WHEN I HAD TOLD YOU IN PERSON WAS NOT FAIR- I EXPECTED BETTER THAN THAT DO YOU UNDERSTAND?! SO I AM GOING TO GIVE YOU ONE MORE CHANCE AND REDO THIS OR ELSE-” Todd took a pause to take a quick breath and get a quick burst of courage. “I AM GOING TO NEED YOU TO SAY THE LAST PART OF THAT LETTER” He watched as Varian's expression from bewilderment changed to a smile, a very fond one. “Will you please give a fool like me a chance?” he said, although his voice cracked a bit in the middle from being nervous. Both stayed silent from the line for a bit before shying away to cover their faces- one from embarrassment and the other joy- and from there it was the start of a new chapter for them. The beginning it was a bit the same as before, both were too nervous to do anything but were now aware of each other’s feelings. Though months passed to lead to simple leaning on each other, endless talks into the night to a year where they were okay with small kisses and very flustered hand holding. Now 3 years later with their redesigned room to expand and make room for not only their documents and papers but also for small dances, and not being nervous with real kisses, waking up in the same bed with each other's warmth, it was nice, very nice in fact. Todd thrived with this and Varian as well, both glad they were finally not cowards. This was something they knew would never be a regret, something they could cherish together. They were happy. =========== Todd woke up, hearing the voices of someone new, mixed with one he’s heard before, he could barely grasp what they were saying- his head was pounding. He could feel some pain from his wings- they felt constricted though, as well his chest. As he was lazily trying to stay conscious a man and woman talk- “- possible concussion, several deep cuts on his chest- the entirety of his right side is badly bruised so he probably slammed into something. His right ribs are broken but they’ll heal on their own with care- as well neck seemed to experience physical abuse, with that and being left out there without water for a bit he might not be able to use his voice for a bit if he wakes.” the man paused to look at his notes for clarity, continuing. “There seems to be no punctures on his body but on his left wing.. It appeared to be punctured at the joint- the right wing is fractured too, as of right now there is only so much I can do for that. They should be stable enough to last the night however.” “Then what should we do?” the lady asks, a tone of worry and urgency. “Honestly Aria- he should’ve died from blood loss or multiple other things with him being where you found him-” he said bluntly. “You got him in the nick of time. But I would ask Dr. Witlock is she can look at his wings tomorrow- I am not sure how bird wings work- I’ve never dealt with his species before- they aren’t in this region. But if his wings are just like animal anatomy she should take care of him.” “Ah- okay.. Thank you. We’ll figure that out tomorrow then- thank you for coming so late too on short notice, we owe you doc” He gave a smile as he started to gather his case, packing his notes. “Don’t worry about it- just tell your Grams I said hello” A third voice chipped in as if on cue- “So he’s going to live-?” Another man- “-How long till he fully heals?” he adds. “With the ribs and needing possible physical therapy for a bit I’d say 4 months” The first man responds back. “Hm..” “Nero, we can house him for 4 months you know- he doesn’t seem harmful.” the lady, presumably called Aria said with assurance. “You don’t know that yet- he’s just unconscious right now, and besides-” he paused to look at Todd with a doubtful face, “Anyone to be beaten up this bad was probably someone who did something to deserve it.” At this point the talking was just scrambles of noises to Todd, who was now struggling to keep his eyes open. He felt darkness take over his consciousness as he was fading away back to sleep. The last thing he was hearing was the last two voices speaking back and forth. What are they saying was his last thought as he passed out for the 2nd time now. OKAY THATS IT THANK YOU FOR READING BYE

THE WINGS COMING OUT OF TODD’S BACK WAS SO SMOOTH, WHAT- The expressions the two have when they finally both admit they like each other and all the cute couple stuff after-so cute. And then the end…. There’s so many little details like how Todd has his wings out almost all the time unlike V also there eyes change from like a cats to normal. I think they are a cats when they are just thinking and a humans when they are looking at something. Finally the perfectly timed explosion great
