after the spanish era and at the beginning of the american rule the philippines is one of the 1st world country in the planet. And as the yrs went by after the ww2 the city never return to its former glory. The city of MANILA. Anoying cable wires slums, poor trikes, motor bikes and cars parked everywhere in the streets, street dwellers, street kids and thugs roaming the streets. What happen manila? We let manila decayed for so long! na kaka awa and it became the symbol of every filipino around the world.

I think Intramuros and Esctola desrves to be restored one day and it should. I think the main issue which is fair is the settler there which is why I understand moving them out or doing a totla rebuild is not just simple, bit for my opinion, some of those businesses there or shitty modern buildings that aren't even well maintained need to love elsewhere which I believe can happen and city literally tries to rebuild some other strcutres. DOn't know if Calle Real can ever be restored it's ridiculus how the city planners don't want to rebuild these things and didn't want it after 1945. I know tourism maybe wasn't big back in the day or IDK but I don't get why it was so hard for filipino to respect some parts of Manila. I would forgive them if they rebuilt the city and made it nice and clean but ever since WW2 they have done nothing. The only good things that filipino have rebuilyt is Makati and BGG it doens't replace old Manila. We need to obviosuly build our cities and country with our main filipino identity but our infleunces from SPain and America shouldn't be looked down upon. FOr my opinion filipinos actually use our colonialk infleunces for way more selfish medicore things like trying to one up each other. Also Manila in the old days could've been one of our prized possessions a long with Christinaity from our Spanish rule and tbh people don't get our colonial architecture is also very filipino in general. It is why I wish Old Manila is rebuild in Intramrusoa nd Esctola. Everywhere else can be modern like Tokyo and Signapore. I believe Manila is an okay city but should be better. I don't believe it deserves to be in the bottom of Asia in cities and in the world. It's hisotry for my opinion is so much better than people think.

Yup. Filipinos should study proper restoration and revival architecture. Intramuros should restored based on Boroque, Rococo and Spanish colonial style architecture. Not half-modern - half-old or experiment buildings. Actually, it can be done. If filipinos could not do it, it would be better to hire foreign architects to do it.

Not only Intramuros and Escolta, the entire City of Manila needs to be rebuilt to its original self before WW2. The next administration should return her former glory, as the Pearl of the Orient and Paris of Asia. Nagtataka ako kung bakit hindi nila binalik like yung mga nawasak na mga gusali at pinalitan ng modernong mga gusali. Warsaw nga halos nawasak sa WW2 pero nagawa nilang maibalik ang mga lumang istruktura pero sa atin pinalitan. Kung nagawa ng mga Polako na maibalik ang dating itsura ng nasabing lungsod, ganoon din dapat ang gawin ng mga Pilipino.

@@nitroo9455 tama ka, kailangan angkop sa nasabi mong mga estilo ang dapat na gagawing building. Intramuros nga merong modernist building at barong-barong malapit sa mga Spanish Colonial building. Maganda rin kung aayusin nila yung urban planning ng buong Kamaynilaan, idepopulate muna yung over-crowded na lugar tapos linisin rin yung mga kalye, estero, kahit yung harapan ng mga bahay at daan linisin rin. Tapos kailangan may gawin silang paraan upang ayusin ang mga nakakainis na mga kable ng kuryente at ang mga sasakyan, trike at mga motor na nakaparada kung saan-saan.

@@walalang741 Manila is really is a beautiful city with so much history. There are still a lot of options on how to do it, one, Manileños should be re-educated, but the problem is people there are already greedy, uninterested and unwilling. There should be a change of mindset, attitude and behaviour with Manileños. Secondly, make Manila a Heritage city, all of its districts or towns should be converted into heritage and cultural districts and towns. The local government needed to take part of the process. Three, filipinos should have a great appreciation of old architecture because old architectures are also part of modern world and also filipinos must have a great love for Manila and the Philippines. However, its really is very challenging at first. But once achieved everything will follow through easily.

@@nitroo9455 Yes, I agree with your opinion. Hope that one day Manila will once again be the Paris of Asia and the Pearl of The Orient. We let manila decay for so long, in short nakakaawa na ganyan ang sinapit ng Manila pagkatapos ng WW2.
