One thing I have noticed about Grian live is he often never comes in with the vocals when he’s supposed to and makes the band loop the intro several times lol

This is a very post punk thing to do in live performances. Particularly for bass line driven songs like this. Joy Division have a live performance of Dead Souls that opens a gig where the intro loops for two minutes longer than it should.

Sort of building ‘tension’ in a sense, i think it’s kinda better too; i love this song so perfect like the instrumentals just beautiful and as an Irish citizen the lyrics are just something else. I think it's quite great how they speed it up! I like how the record gives you the much more polished slow version, while the live one is much more raw and powerful. But to each their own I guess!
