I have this guitar, I bought it once when I was drunk and on ebay. It ended up being the best guitar I have ever owned, I have owned just normal teles, strats, les pauls, gretsch, but this thing can give me whatever sound I want. Super durable and is a good work horse, and it looks good under colored lights. I recommend this guitar, I dont even play music anything remotely like the Foo Fighters. Good job Fender and Chris.

Brownier of the internet $700 for a signature guitar is a very good deal tbh. You wanna talk about ass-ton of money, look the the Mark Knopfler, Gilmour, SRV, Clapton, John Mayer signatures. Those are NOT worth the money. This actually is. And I don't even like The Foo Fighters. Didn't even know who the hell Chris Shiflett was till I saw this video.

+Soham Bhattacharya For a signature guitar, sure it's a sweet deal, but no one on the freaking universe is gonna spend $700 bucks for a "first guitar", i barely paid $100 and for a "used" guitar, lol

@SohamBhattacharya3105 9 жыл бұрын
Juan Jaime Siqueiros That's true. For a first guitar, I don't see anyone paying $700 either. No arguments there.
@SohamBhattacharya3105
@SohamBhattacharya3105 8 жыл бұрын
Maafa 1619 I don't think that's true at all. Very few people have enough disposable income to spend $700 on his/her FIRST guitar. Don't forget, you'll probably be spending under $300 for an amp. So shelling out $1000 for a hobby you haven't even started on and don't know if you'll continue with? I don't see too many people willing to do that.

Chris Shifflett is such a fantastic guitarist (go see his performance of Rock n Roll by Led Zep' at the Kennedy Center Honors, or even listen to Something From Nothing by the Foo Fighters and you'll understand); such a shame he's so underrated in general (the two popular guys of the Foos are Grohl and Hawkins, the others like Nate Mendel and Shifflett are quite "invisible" I hate that)
@Dalboe
@Dalboe 9 жыл бұрын
What about Smear, he is also very talented ;)
@JN_Collins
@JN_Collins 9 жыл бұрын
Smear is very talented. But not in the same way Shifty is: Smear is more a rythmic and barytone guitarist, while Shifty has more, as said Dave Grohl in Back and Forth, a sharp and cle an sense of melodic playing. Beside that, Smear is very popular too in the fanbase, because of his past in Nirvana and The germs. So he is way less underrated than Shiflett and shown more than him.

I bought the '72 Telecaster Deluxe in Black, changed both Fender Wide Range Humbuckers (which aren't faithful to the originals as Fender have you believe... No-No.) with a pair of British hand built, and to order, The Creamery Wide Range Humbuckers. Much better Pick-Ups, sound incredible, vintage heavy sound and are actually faithful to the originals... But even better. The Creamery versions aren't as "hot" as some other Humbuckers, and they're not trying to be, but if you're using a High Gain Amp with the Gain knob around and beyond the 3' O-Clock position, Medium Output Pick-Ups sound much better than High Output ones. In my opinion at least anyway.

Well, all "Fanboying" aside, I immediately bought this white beauty guitar when it came out. Still have it in mint condition. Played it a lot. It's by no means a high quality guitar from a signature custom shop. The tuners are extremely cheap and the pots are too. The rosewood fretboard looks nothing like the quality of the one in this video. The pickups are kinda muddy and not secured too well. The neck is super tiny and fret edges are sharp. Pickup selector switch bouncy loose and sometimes dead on bridge unless I shake it a few times. I figure I'll keep it and maybe he can sign it one day.

I'm not a huge chris shiflett fan, but I don't really get this. 1st, being a rhythm player isn't pejorative. 2nd, I don't think it takes a great leap of the imagination to understand why fender would give one of the foo fighters a signature guitar. In terms of a business decision (they're a business, you get that?), 1. they win grammys in rock, 2. grohl has a gibson sig, 3. he was playing a Warmoth tele lookalike. I think that makes pretty good sense.

IMHO I think that the Tele sings at its truest form when the ashtray is kept and used as a base for the bridge pick up. Once that is removed some of that tone is lost. It is a beautiful guitar people absolutely love the shape of it and how it is so incredibly versatile maybe more so than the strat. You can play a Tele across almost every genre out there and I think thats were the telecasters true power resides. The telecaster to me is what the automobile brought to the world. The similarity being that this electric guitar, as with the automobile, came to change how people has created music since she was created by Leo and became a tool to the inspired musicians who know that as far as music is concerned, the electric guitar is irreplaceable. All that began with the telecaster.

These guitars might be 700 USD in the States but please remember that elsewhere they're marked up big time so when us non-yanks go to buy one we pay through the nose. For example I'm interested in a PRS Mira and know in the States I could get one for 800 dollars or less but over here in Europe 1400 euros is a lot of money.

I'm a huge fan of telecasters too, I own one and I just love the sound, the look and the Feeling of this guitar, most comfortable guitar I've ever played ;) ps: Seriously? the Foo Fighters are on a "hiatus" which is like break up, cause they don't know when they're coming back (if they Ever coming back) I hope that happen quite soon but I don't think so, kinda reminds me to what happened to Blink 182 but This time the guys in the band are not mad at each other (hope so)
@randyvanvliet226
@randyvanvliet226 4 жыл бұрын
That hiatus is long gone... pretty normal for a band to take a big break after doing a lot of touring. Foo Fighters are unique, in that they still are playing Rock and Roll, and still selling out concerts, despite here in the USA never having #1 hits. Every album they do produces new touring material that Brits, Aussies, and New Zealanders flat out love and go see play in huge fair like concerts. Think Reading and Leeds in the UK.

@Noah Sianez You could play foo fighters songs with a standard 72 Telecaster Deluxe with the ride range Humbuckers but it would sound different compared to his as well as that he has a rosewood fretboard on his tele deluxe which produces a darker tone. The standard 72 tele deluxe has a maple fretboard which is brighter sounding. Quite different guitars even though the majority of features is the same as well as the main wood for the body.

This guitar has only one object. Playing Foo Fighters music. I love the Telecaster '72 deluxe with its Humbuckers. It still has a little bit of that Tele twang in it. These pickups lost all of it. My opinion: It lost its roots and it is too soft for playing heavier music

I get where your coming from but he wanted a different tone then the standard Fender. No has to understand it. People like that they like and chase their own tone. I've got a Fender American Standard HH(dual humbuckers) that I dropped in some Gibson Classic 57's in and it's great to my ears. You get a bit of Fender thanks to the longer scale and a bit of Gibson sound with the pickups. I wonder what a Les Paul body with a 25.5 scale bolt on Strat neck would sound like? Ehhhh...maybe that's going too far...lol. Best to you, man. :)

Some people just like the fender platform better. I played Gibson/epiphone for years because I prefer humbuckers, and Gibson was cool. But I was always frustrated with my guitars because I felt like I was fighting them to play a lot of what I do. I started playing fenders and just noticed that leo fender really hit the nail on the head with his design. The headstock isn't angled and has a straight string pull, the guitar is constructed to be easily repaired or worked on even at home if need be, and the guitar just gives more up when you dig into it. I don't know, that's just me.

Martin Heidl Huh?? He didn't create the idea of humbuckers in a Fender , that guitar is based on a 1972 Tele Deluxe. And , I doubt Jimmy Page , Joe Strummer , Chrissy Hyde etc ...played Telecasters for the twang. Lots of guys like a Les Paul with single coil P 90's , there's no right or wrong pickups..just different tones/tastes.

rex racer dude,i bet Chrissie did play it for the twang. Pretenders are one of my favs,and.... anyways,rheir sound is do punk rockish twangy it hurts,so,she did. Also,peple had a choice between Les Pauls,Strats,Teles,so an LP standard is relatively close enough to Tele if you want that sound with hums

Probably wants a Les Paul tone with a Fender feel. It's the other way around for me; I have a strat but my Les and my 335 copy are always at the top of my head simply because it feels right

In the U.S. guitars with an MSRP are usually 2/3rds that on the street, so to speak. So, this $900 MSRP should yield a regular store price of about $600 USD. Make sure you get the hardshell case with this, if you buy it! Guitar Center has a history of splitting the case separately, and charging you for what should be included with the guitar. [shakes internet fist at GC!]

Why wouldn't they make him one? It's a great marketing technique. Blink is a very well known band, and there are people that want to be like them. What a better way to do it than have their instruments? Fender and Gibson make money, Tom and Mark get their signature instruments, Blink gets a form of publicity, and kids get to be their musical idols.

for a first guitar 900 is expensive, 900 would still be a lot to experienced players. he should of probably worded that a little better but the guitar is pretty awesome looking.

Yeah but if you actually listened to what he said then you would know what Chris is talking about. He said he loved the look of a tele but doesn't like single coil in rock he prefers the humbucker

SmashShitUp! Yes i listened that, i know manufacturers do that for sell more, but for a purist of the sound, that is an aberration, its like if i want a ferrari with truck wheels... i know the money does all, but...

that design came out in 72 so it's far from a new "obsession". don't hate on somebody because they care about the tone they get.

AtomicInline26 Its also not just about the sound or look, he may also like the way a tele plays, les pauls feel completely different to hold and play (scale length, different bridge, different shape body to name the obvious ones) who cares anyway.

What I like about the Foo Fighters is that they have three very different guitarists. Dave is the songwriter, Chris is the technical player, and Pat is the vibe guy.
